Axel Bolten takes over management of Merchandise International, Ulrike Zanker becomes purchasing manager for full-range goods

Axel Bolten Axel Bolten, will take over the role of Merchandise International management on 1 July. His mandate as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Trinks GmbH remains unchanged. He reports to Hans-Jürgen Moog, CPO and Group Management Board member of REWE Group. Axel Bolten joined the former Strategic Purchasing department of REWE Group in 2007 as a central buyer for foreign trade. in 2009, he was appointed Head of Foreign Trade. From 2013 to 2015, he was Managing Director of PENNY International in Austria. After a short-term assignment in the same function at PENNY Bulgaria, he moved to REWE Group Buying as Head of Goods in 2016. Here he was responsible for various product groups. Since 2022, he has been responsible for the full-range beverages/wine competence centre as Head of Buying.

Ulrike Zanker Ulrike Zanker will take over as Head of Purchasing for full-range beverages/wine competence centres from 1 July. She will report to Daniel Kniel, management of full-range goods and member of the managing directors of REWE Group Buying. she joined REWE Group in 2011 in the Market Research department, then moved to the Strategy & Consulting department. From 2015, Ulrike Zanker worked for REWE Group Buying, and in 2019 she became a consultant to the CEO of the REWE Group for merchandise projects. On 1 January 2020, she took on the role of Senior Category Buyer Dry Assortment 2, and on 15 October 2020 she was appointed Head of Buying Goods Full-range Dry Assortment 1. In July 2024, she went on parental leave for one year.

Klaus-Peter von Nethen hands over to Philipp Stiehler, René Plasman becomes new Chief Buyer

Klaus-Peter von Nethen (l.) and Philipp Stiehler Klaus-Peter von Nethen will retire as Chairman of the Management of the PENNY Southwest Region on 1 September. He has been at the helm of the PENNY region since 2016. Under his leadership, the sales threshold of two billion was exceeded and the most modern warehouse location was opened in Kronau. "I am glad that with Klaus-Peter von Nethen we had an experienced and far-sighted manager over such a long period of time, who embodied the PENNY spirit both internally and externally. I would like to thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best for the new chapter in his life. I am sure that Klaus-Peter von Nethen will continue to be a frequent guest in our stores," says our PENNY COO, Stefan Görgens.

He will be succeeded by Philipp Stiehler, who was previously the management of Discount Goods at REWE Group Buying. Stiehler began his career at PENNY back in 2013 as Head of Category Management/Discount Food 2 Purchasing. Two years later, he took on the role of Head of Discount Dry Goods at REWE Group Buying. In November 2019, he was appointed to the management of the Ware Discount division and in January 2023 he was also appointed to the managing directors of REWE Group Buying.

I am therefore all the more pleased that we have been able to inspire Philipp Stiehler, a PENNY colleague from Purchasing, to take on the role of Regional Manager," says Stefan Görgens.

René Plasman René Plasman will take over the role of Managing Director of Discount Goods on 1 July and will be appointed to the REWE Group Buying Management Board. He has been Head of International Purchasing at REWE Group Buying as Managing Director since April 2024. Previously, the purchasing expert was Managing Partner at Real GmbH. Prior to that, he was responsible for purchasing and marketing on the Executive Board of the Dohle Retail Group for almost six years. He gained further retail experience at Edeka/Netto and Lidl.

Christian Raveaux heads Retail Media Connect

Christian Raveaux Christian Raveaux was appointed Head of Retail Media Connect on 1 May. He will continue to report to Ralph Klin, Head of Customer, Insights & Analytics. Raveaux joined the central Strategy division as a Business Consultant in 2010 and took on the role of Senior Project Manager Loyalty in 2012. in 2014, he was appointed Head of Customer Knowledge Support. Since 2018, as Head of Retail Media Connect, he has been responsible for the development of an ecosystem and the marketing of retail media services for REWE, PENNY and ZooRoyal. The appointment reflects the development in recent years of a business segment with significant value contribution in a market that continues to grow dynamically.

AI Strategy & Enablement
Julian Mennenöh heads new department

Dr Julian Mennenöh On 1 May, Dr Julian Mennenöh took over the management of the newly created specialist domain AI Strategy & Enablement in the Analytics division. In order to keep pace with the rapid development in the field of AI & Analytics, Mennenöh is dedicated to the systematic further development of data & AI capabilities in Analytics and Retail Germany. He will continue to report to Dr Lorenz Determann, Head of Analytics. Julian Mennenöh joined REWE Markt GmbH in October 2012 as a Category Insight Analyst. He joined the Analytics department in January 2017, where he initially established the strategic analysis of competitive data as Lead Retail Analytics. Since January 2019, as Head of Retail Analytics & Business Performance, he has supported various analytical projects as well as the Analytics Transformation restructuring project. Since November 2021, he has held the role of Analytics Domain Manager and Head of Sales & Business Functions. Until his successor is appointed, Julian Mennenöh will continue to head up the Sales & Business Functions department.

Jacqueline Gottschalk takes over from Britta Wenzler

Britta Wenzler (l.) and Jacqueline Gottschalk Jacqueline Gottschalk was appointed Senior Category Buyer on 1 May. She takes over responsibility for the savoury biscuits and sugar confectionery team from Britta Wenzler. Jacqueline Gottschalk joined REWE Group Buying in October 2016 and started her career as CM/EK Assistant in Discount. Most recently, she worked as Category Buyer Baking, Oils, Vinegar in the Troso 2 & Drugstore division in the Ware Discount area. In her new role, Jacqueline Gottschalk reports to Marcus Pratsch, Purchasing Manager Ware Discount TroSo1 & Beverages. At the same time, Britta Wenzler moved to CM Support Ware Discount as Head of Buying Processes. She reports to Claudia Fergens, Head of Category Management Partner.

Ferry Radix Head of Media Relations REWE Group

Ferry Radix Ferry Radix joined the Corporate Communications holding division of REWE-ZENTRALFINANZ eG as Head of Media Relations REWE Group on 15 March, where he will be responsible for positioning REWE Group in the media and public. He reports to Pierre de la Motte, Head of Strategic Content & Communication Services. Ferry Radix began his career in journalism immediately after studying journalism and communications. After holding various positions in the media industry, he was most recently Communications Lead DACH at Dyson GmbH. Andreas Krämer remains responsible for corporate communications at Penny Markt GmbH, Philipp Schmitz-Waters as corporate spokesperson for Rewe, Thomas Bonrath as Head of Public Relations for communications at Rewe Markt GmbH and Peter von Kageneck for communications at Rewe digital GmbH.
