
Rüdiger Hahn
Graduate engineer Rüdiger Hahn, Head of Holding Corporate Audit, will retire on 30 June 2025 after almost 17 years in charge of this department. He will be succeeded by Marcel Mertens, who will join the company on 1 April 2025. In 2008, REWE Group was looking for a person who would be able to future-proof the then specialist area of auditing for an expanded understanding of its tasks. It found him in a specialist with many years of auditing experience. Before joining REWE-ZENTRALFINANZ eG, Rüdiger Hahn was a senior manager in the Corporate Finance Audit department at Siemens AG in Munich and previously Head of Internal Audit at various international industrial companies. Since joining the company, Rüdiger Hahn has re-established structures and built up specialised teams. In particular, he has succeeded in firmly establishing the proactive and preventive orientation of today's Corporate Audit department both nationally and internationally.
Marcel Mertens is a business graduate, tax consultant and auditor and has many years of experience in both auditing and advising commercial companies from his ten years at KPMG. At the beginning of 2018, Marcel Mertens joined CECONOMY AG in Düsseldorf, where he was initially responsible for accounting before taking over as Head of Internal Audit for the Group in 2020. Mertens reports to Lionel Souque, CEO of the REWE Group.
Hans-Joachim Kleinwächter
After a total of more than 25 successful years at toom Baumarkt DIY store, Hans-Joachim Kleinwächter will retire at the end of the year and leave the managing directorship after twelve years as a member. In his area of responsibility, Category Management and Marketing, numerous milestones were achieved, such as the strategic development of toom's own brand and the realignment of the toom brand. Kleinwächter will continue to be available to the company for some time in an advisory capacity.
His current areas of responsibility will be divided between Dominique Rotondi and René Haßfeld. The toom Management Board will thus be reduced to four members: Martin Czoske (CFO/CHRO), Christoph Möltgen (CIO) and Dominique Rotondi (Purchasing, Logistics, Category Management), who will all report toRené Haßfeld, Divisional Director for the toom Baumarkt DIY store business segment and Chairman of the Managing Directors of toom (CEO).
Due to the growing eCommerce activities and the advancing digitalisation, the Management Board of REWE Group and the Management Board of REWE International AG have decided to make greater use of synergy potential for these topics. For this reason, the new "International eCommerce & Digital Strategy" department will be implemented in the Retail International business unit on 1 January. This division will act as a competence centre for Austria and all CEE countries and will be responsible for REWE International AG's eCom activities together with the trading companies. The division will also be responsible for the international digitalisation strategy. David Renker will take over the management of the division and report directly to Jan Kunath, Deputy CEO of the REWE Group. David Renker has been responsible for eCommerce-related tasks since joining the REWE Group in July 2013. Since October 2021, he has headed the BILLA Digital division in Michael Paterno's Consumer & Insights department.
Stefan Römheld
The management teams of the two tourism companies are being strengthened by a further member. On 1 January, Stefan Römheld, CFO DERTOUR Central Europe, will be appointed to the managing directors of DERTOUR Germany and DERTOUR Central Europe. Römheld has been with the DERTOUR Group since April 2018, initially as SVP Controlling and since 2021 in parallel as acting CFO for the Central Europe division. As part of the takeover of the management roles, he is now also responsible for Accounting and Corporate Services in addition to Controlling, Treasury and the Business Intelligence Competence Centre.
Klaus Franke
Klaus Franke, Corporate Administration Officer of DERTOUR Group, will retire on 31 December after more than 35 years with the company. Among other things, Franke was CFO of DER Travel and Tourism Central Europe, moved to the DERTOUR Group as CAO in 2020 and reported to Group CFO Boris Schnabel. On his path at DERTOUR, he has accompanied many milestones and set the course with expertise and great personal commitment. In addition to his role in the DERTOUR Group, he was a founding member of the DERTOUR Foundation and its treasurer for many years. He will remain a member of the Foundation.
