Martin Wiegand replaces Ulrike Zanker

Martin Wiegand, Ulrike Zanker Ulrike Zanker, Purchasing Manager Full-range Dry Goods 1, will go on parental leave for one year at the end of June. On 1 July, Martin Wiegand will take over responsibility for full-range dry goods 1 at REWE Group Buying GmbH. Martin Wiegand joined our company in January 2022 as Senior Category Buyer and has been responsible for the Chocolate, Confectionery and Seasonal product group ever since. He has previously worked for Penny International, Edeka and Tengelmann. Before returning to REWE Group, he was Head of Purchasing Food International - Brands & Private Label at Schwarz Group - Kaufland Stiftung & Co KG. In his new function, Martin Wiegand will report to Daniel Kniel, managing director of full-range goods and managing director of REWE Group Buying.

 

Public Affairs
Kristin Hühnergarth heads Political Communications

Kristin Hühnergarth, most recently Senior Manager Public Affairs, was appointed Head of Political Communications REWE Group in the Public Affairs division on 1 March. She will continue to report to Emilie Bourgoin, Head of Public Affairs. The newly created functional area deals with the strategic communication of all Public Affairs topics. This includes external communication, for example to political and specialised stakeholders, associations and the agricultural sector, as well as internal communication. The elected representatives of REWE Group, specialised colleagues and independent retailers, who also represent the company externally, play a major role here. In addition, the communication of the REWE Group's Agriculture Competence Centre, which was founded last year, will be managed from the newly created functional area. Kristin Hühnergarth will continue to be responsible for the division's labour policy issues. Hühnergarth joined the company as an assistant in the former Corporate Responsibility and Marketing / Public Affairs department after completing her studies in 2012. After working as a project officer in the Corporate Responsibility / HR department, she moved to the Public Affairs department in 2017. She was appointed Senior Manager there in 2020.

Christian Brandl is Head of

Christian Brandl On 1 April, Christian Brandl, 44, took over the role of Head of Organisation & Processes MDM & Operations in the Organisation & Processes division. Brandl previously held various positions at the Weltbild publishing group and the MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group, where he was responsible for the operational article master data management of the German national company and the group-wide MDM strategy. In his new role, he is responsible for article master data management at REWE Group Buying GmbH. He will assume responsibility for the REWE Group article master data project (ASM). In order to fulfil the tasks and programme objectives, the previous competencies will be bundled under Christian Brandl. With immediate effect, Nicole Schmitz will report to him as Teamlead Data Provider Nonfood, Raphael Wehrmann as Teamlead MDM and Aytekin Solmaz as Teamlead Data Provider Beverages & Cigarettes. Brandl reports to the Director Organisation & Processes, Michael Georgiev.

Erkan Varol becomes Senior Category Buyer

Erkan Varol On 18 March, Erkan Varol, 38, took over as Senior Category Buyer for the butter, fats, milk and eggs product group in the full-range fresh produce department. Mr Varol joined our company in September 2006 as an apprentice wholesale and foreign trade merchant. He was then taken on as a purchasing assistant in the non-food department. On 1 January 2018, Erkan Varol was appointed Cheese Purchasing Officer and most recently worked as Category Buyer Chocolate, Confectionery, Seasonal. Erkan Varol reports to Stephan Moers, Head of Full-range Fresh Produce.

Arun Mehera and Anne Zimmermann-Neugart move up

Anne Zimmermann-Neugart Arun Mehera will take over as Senior Category Buyer for the chocolate, sweet biscuits and seasonal product group in the full-range dry goods 1 division on 1 May. Most recently, he was in charge of the WPR, paper, film, bags/carrier bags product group in the full-range goods area. In his new role, Mehera will report to Martin Wiegand. Anne Zimmermann-Neugart, 38,, will also take over responsibility for the WPR, paper, film, bags/carrier bags product group in the full-range drugstore goods division as Senior Category Buyer from 1 May. Zimmermann-Neugart joined our company in February 2011 as a purchasing assistant. In March 2014, she was appointed Purchasing Officer, where she worked in various product groups, most recently as Category Buyer in the Chocolate, Confectionery, Seasonal product group. Anne Zimmermann-Neugart will report to Christian Üffing, Purchasing Manager Full-range Drugstore.

Pascal Hoffmann is responsible for strategy

Pascal Hoffmann On 1 April, Pascal Hoffmann, 33,, took over the position of Head of Strategy, Projects and Own Brand Management Merchandise Full-range. Hoffmann joined our company in April 2018 as a project manager in the Project and Committee Management functional area. In February 2020, he moved to the Ware Organisation & Processes division as Lead. Most recently, Pascal Hoffmann worked as a consultant to the managing directors of full-range merchandise. Hoffmann continues to report to Daniel Kniel, Managing Directors Merchandise Full-range & Managing Director RGB.

Britta Rotondi manages sugar confectionery and savoury biscuits

Britta Rotondi After many years of responsibility for the full-range goods Projects & Strategy / Advertising division, Britta Rotondi, 44, has taken on a new challenge and, on 1 April, became Senior Category Buyer and Head of the Sugar Confectionery, Salty Biscuits product group in the full-range goods division.

Karin Lang replaces Katrin Pichl

Karin Lang Karin Lang, 42, will take over responsibility for the cosmetics II product group in the full-range drugstore department from 1 May. She was previously in charge of the confectionery and savoury biscuits product group in the full-range dry goods 1 division. Karin Lang will report to Christian Üffing. At the same time, Katrin Pichl will go on parental leave. As Senior Category Buyer, Pichl was previously responsible for the Cosmetics II product group.

Malte Schubert leads project team

Malte Schubert On 1 April, Dr Malte Schubert, 37, took over responsibility for Project Team 1 within the Strategy & Consulting Retail Germany division as Head of Inhouse Consulting. Before joining REWE Group, Schubert had already worked as an external consultant for our company. His other professional stations included the Boston Consulting Group, where he was responsible for various projects in different functions and areas. Malte Schubert reports to Philipp Schachten, Head of Strategy & Consulting Retail Germany.

Full-range revision
Simone Klausmann succeeds Matthias Honert

Simone Klausmann Simone Klausmann, 36, took over responsibility as Head of Auditing within the Sales Organisation/Coordination division on 1 April. Simone Klausmann began her career at Aldi Süd in 2012, where she initially worked as a regional sales manager in various areas of the shop business in southern Germany. Most recently, as Director Store Design & Merchandising, she was responsible for the development and implementation of the national interior design concept. She was responsible for the development and purchasing of various furnishing components for the approximately 2,000 Aldi Süd shops. After a three-month induction period, Klausmann will take over from Matthias Honert, who will take on a new role within REWE Group on 1 July. Simone Klausmann will report to Dirk Gerstmann, Head of Sales Organisation/Coordination.

BILLA Czech Republic
Marek Doležal succeeds Liam Casey

Marek Doležal, Liam Casey Marek Doležal has taken over the position of CEO of BILLA Czech Republic. Together with Vincent van Schagen (CFO) and Andreas Jüterbock (COO), he forms the local management team. Doležal reports to Espen B. Larsen, Management Board member of REWE International AG. After completing his studies, Marek Doležal held various management positions at Tesco in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. As Trading Director Fresh Food and Managing Director Tesco Franchise Stores, he brought a wealth of experience with him when he took over the role of Head of Purchasing at PENNY Czech Republic in 2014. in 2021, he moved to PENNY Romania as COO, where he managed the areas of purchasing, logistics, SCM, quality assurance and store auditing/security. Most recently, he was CEO of BILLA Slovakia. Liam Casey, CEO of BILLA Czech Republic, is leaving the company at his own request to pursue new professional challenges. He joined BILLA in the Czech Republic in July 2022, having previously worked for the REWE Group in Cologne for several years.

Andreas Pospiech arrives, Markus R. Kempen leaves

Andreas Pospiech, Markus Kempen Andreas Pospiech was appointed to the managing directors of Aldiana GmbH on 1 April. He succeeds Markus R. Kempen, whose position as Managing Director ended at the end of March. In his new role as Managing Director, the experienced Travel and Tourism manager will report directly to Karl J. Pojer, CEO of the DERTOUR Group Hotel Division. Together with Max-Peter Droll, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Aldiana GmbH, Pospiech will steer the company. Andreas Pospiech can look back on over 20 years of experience in Travel and Tourism, specialising in management, the hotel industry and product management. The qualified travel agent and tourism manager spent over eleven years in management roles in the hotel business for brands such as Sensimar Hotels and five years as Managing Director of Magic Life Clubs. Most recently, he was in charge of Camping Lodge Germany.
