The representatives of four Cologne aid organisations recently enjoyed a belated Christmas present.
Frank Bartels and Robert Pasing from Event Management presented the cheques, each worth 5,000 euros, to Monika Brunst and Britt Liebler for Caritas Köln e.V., Susanne Budkova for AWO Kreisverband Köln e.V., Monika Fürhaupter for Kölner Tafel e.V. and Karl-Heinz Iffland for Kölner Arbeitslosenzentrum (KALZ e.V.), Monika Fürhaupter for Kölner Tafel e.V. and Karl-Heinz Iffland for Kölner Arbeitslosenzentrum (KALZ) e.V. The recipients were very grateful that REWE Group is thinking of the needy in the cathedral city despite the pandemic and the cancellation of Christmas dinner.
REWE Group traditionally donates a Christmas dinner in the Gürzenich to those in need, which up to 1,000 Cologne residents have attended in the past. "Due to the pandemic, this event could not be held for the second time," says Frank Bartels, Head of Event Management at REWE Group, regretting the cancellation. Last year, numerous employees from the Central locations in Cologne enquired about the Christmas dinner and once again offered their help.
Together, Bartels and Pasing expressed the hope "that this valuable and very emotional event for everyone involved can finally take place again this year." Frank Bartels: "I am delighted that we are able to support the four organisations with a financial donation. But no matter how large the amount, it is no substitute for the shining eyes of the children and adults in the Gürzenich, who can forget their everyday lives for a few hours."
