After more than 13 years as Head of Corporate Communications at REWE Group, Martin Brüning (56) will leave the company on 30 June 2022 at his own request and on the best of terms. He will be succeeded by Ines Schurin (49), who has been Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs in REWE Group's Retail International division since September 2016 and is the Corporate Spokesperson for REWE International AG in Wiener Neudorf. Ines Schurin will move from Wiener Neudorf to Cologne on 1 April 2022 to ensure a smooth transition at the head of REWE Group Corporate Communications together with Martin Brüning.
Lionel Souque, CEO of the REWE Group, commented: "My heartfelt thanks and great appreciation go to Martin Brüning for his enormous commitment and outstanding achievements. He took over the management of REWE Group Corporate Communications in February 2009 and has since made a decisive contribution to fundamentally modernising our internal communications and external media work and continuously improving our company's reputation with the media and stakeholders. At the same time, I am very pleased that we have found a very experienced internal successor in Ines Schurin, who has already led our communications work in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe with great success."
Martin Brüning commented on his decision: "I am very grateful to the Management Board and all my colleagues for the great trust and support that my team and I have received at all times for our communications work at REWE Group. My decision to leave the company is a long-planned decision to take more time for my private life and my family."
Ines Schurin added: "I am very much looking forward to taking on this responsible task and helping to shape communications for the entire REWE Group in the future. I would like to thank Martin Brüning for the many years of good and trusting cooperation and I am convinced that together we will ensure a seamless transition for REWE Group and its partners."
Ines Schurin has been Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Retail International since September 2016. In this role, she is responsible for Public Relations, Stakeholder Communications, Internal Communications and Public Affairs for Austria and the eight other countries of REWE Group (Retail International) outside of Germany.
Schurin has been with REWE International AG since 2013, from 2013 to 2016 as press spokeswoman and head of public relations. Until 2013, she was Media Relations Manager and Press Spokesperson at the Austrian energy company VERBUND and before that gained a wide range of experience in communications management on the agency side and in the cultural sector.
