Climate Challenge
1.500 euros presented to NABU
by Julia Dopjans

Protecting the climate and supporting the NABU climate fund at the same time: Numerous REWE Group employees took part in this year's climate challenge. The resulting donation has now been handed over to NABU.

Want to bet that together we can save 20,000 kgof CO2e? That was the motto of this year's Climate Challenge, in which REWE Group employees were able to reduce theirCO2e emissionstogether from mid-August to the beginning of September. Numerous colleagues from all sales lines took part - switching from cars to bikes, making sure they ate a climate-friendly diet and reducing their electricity consumption. The effort has a double benefit for the climate, as the amount is invested in the NABU climate fund, which promotes the rewetting of moors. For every kilogrammeof CO2esaved, the amount donated to the NABU climate fund increased by five cents.

With success: together, the participants were able to reduce theirCO2e emissionsby a total of 21,940 kg and raise a donation of 1,097.00 euros. REWE Group rounded up the donation to 1,500 euros. On Tuesday, 20 September, the donation cheque for 1,500 euros was handed over at the NABU and REWE summer festival at Gut Leidenhausen in Cologne.
