Climate protection funding programme
Greenhouse gas emissions are generated at many points in the supply chain. With the "Climate Protection Promotion Programme", we want to actively support measures that help to reduce these emissions. We presented the REWE and PENNY programme under the umbrella of the Competence Centre for Agriculture for the first time at the Green Week.
REWE and Naturland
As a pioneer in the German food retail sector, REWE launched its strategic cooperation with Naturland Zeichen GmbH 15 years ago - a partnership that was intended to strengthen organic farming and make organic products accessible to a broader market. With success: around half of the now more than 850 REWE organic products, including all REWE organic meat products, now bear the Naturland seal.
REWE and NABU
Together with NABU, REWE has long been committed to climate protection. A moor is now being renaturalised through the NABU climate fund. A visit on site.
State visit to Germany
From the Bundestag to the farm: during his visit to Germany, King Charles III stopped off at the Brodowin eco-village. There he learned about sustainable agriculture and also took time for climate protection and representatives of the NABU Climate Fund - including our board member Dr Daniela Büchel.
REWE store brands
REWE is ahead in the vegan segment - especially thanks to REWE store brands. Our REWE own-brand experts know who is going vegan and with what motives, how the range has developed and what prospects it has ahead of it.
REWE is taking a further step towards climate neutrality with its first hydrogen-powered lorry, a Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell. The vehicle is part of a company project on alternative drives in delivery transport.
In Waidhofen an der Thaya in Lower Austria, an area of forest lost to climate change has been reforested.
Climate Challenge
Protecting the climate and supporting the NABU climate fund at the same time: Numerous REWE Group employees took part in this year's climate challenge. The resulting donation has now been handed over to NABU.
Climate Challenge
Whether it's giving up the car or eating a climate-friendly diet, numerous colleagues from REWE Group have joined forces in recent weeks to protect the climate. Now it's mission complete! Read here to find out what has saved the most CO₂e.
Doing more for the climate
A climate-friendly and more sustainable world is conceivable if we rethink together. REWE is convinced of this - and is launching #umdenkbar to communicate its long-standing and current sustainability initiatives. By purchasing REWE organic products, customers automatically support the NABU climate fund to save the moors. And all REWE Group employees can also help the environment by taking part in a joint climate challenge.
Cooperation with Lufthansa
Dertour and REWE Reisen are the first tour operators in Germany to offer their guests the opportunity to fly CO2-neutral on holiday with Lufthansa. In cooperation with the airline, DER Travel and Tourism is making it possible to offset the CO2 emissions of flights through a combination of sustainable fuel and investments in climate protection projects
"Ja! Natürlich!"
The season for organic tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers from Austria is being extended. This is made possible by a new greenhouse that uses geothermal energy for CO2-neutral heating.
PENNY's climate campaign
Climate neutrality is playing an increasingly important role in connection with nutrition. In the one_Interview, Stefan Magel, Divisional Director Retail Germany and COO PENNY, explains why PENNY wants to position itself as a green discounter on the occasion of the launch of the Climate Campaign 2022.
