Cooperation between DER Travel and Tourism and Lufthansa
A CO2-neutral holiday

Dertour and REWE Reisen are the first tour operators in Germany to offer their guests the opportunity to flyCO2-neutral on holiday with Lufthansa. In cooperation with the airline, DER Travel and Tourism is making it possible to offset theCO2 emissions of flights through a combination of sustainable fuel and investments in climate protection projects

Travellers can save part of the CO₂ emissions of their flight by using sustainable aviation fuels made from biogenic residues such as used cooking oil. The other part of the CO₂ emissions is offset by investing in certified climate protection projects in cooperation with the non-profit climate protection organisation myclimate, which binds theCO2 over a period of ten years. When booking one of the selected trips with DERTOUR or REWE Reisen, guests fly CO₂-neutral with a combination of both options.

"In order to minimise thecarbon footprint of air travel, we at DER Travel and Tourism are taking this important step towards climate protection together with Lufthansa. Thanks to this strategic cooperation, our guests can make their flight directlyCO2-neutral by combining emission savings and offsetting," explains Dr Ingo Burmester, CEO of DER Travel and Tourism Central Europe.

Bookable with REWE Reisen and Dertour

The holiday offers can be booked at REWE Reisen, among others. The monthly flyer for March, which is available in REWE stores nationwide, initially offers two eight-day holidays that are part of the new project. These are a tour of southern England and a tour of Sicily. With both offers, theCO2 emissions of the outward and return flights are offset and the focus of the trip is on nature and local value creation. Further offers will follow in May and July.

At the end of March, the third edition of the Dertour magalogue "Conscious Travel" will also be published with sustainably certified hotels and responsible tourism experiences. Twelve offers from this catalogue - including in Mallorca, Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece - can be combined withCO2-neutral Lufthansa flights.

With this cooperation, DER Travel and Tourism, together with Lufthansa, is gaining its first experience in the direct integration of flight compensation offers through a combination of sustainable aviation fuel and investment in climate protection projects. In the future, DER Travel and Tourism is considering extending this innovative offer to other of its tour operators.
