People and Sustainability - Daniela Büchel combines two subject areas in her two Management Board positions that are "a lot of music", especially at a political level. In order to contribute REWE Group's perspective and engage in an open dialogue, she spent a day in the capital for talks at federal ministries, in the Bundestag and with association representatives.
As a business enterprise with a broad thematic focus - from discount stores and supermarkets to DIY stores and Travel and Tourism - REWE Group is directly affected by a large number of political measures. This applies in particular to the Management Board topics of People and Sustainability.
"I am convinced that many legislative procedures or regulations are urgently needed," said Daniela Büchel during her exchange with political representatives. "At the same time, it is also clear that as a company with around 384,000 employees, it is our responsibility to bring our practical perspective, our challenges and our approaches to the dialogue with political representatives. Transparently and openly."
As expected, the range of topics was therefore broad: from the shortage of skilled workers and the value of dual training to reducing bureaucracy and new work, from moorland protection to the Supply Chain Duty of Care Act and the circular economy.
„The discussions were very informative and open. I was able to show that Sustainability and HR go hand in hand at REWE Group. We are happy to contribute as a practical check and source of inspiration, we have great projects, teams and ideas and I look forward to further discussions with politicians.“Daniela Büchel draws a positive conclusion
