Lithuanian cuisine is characterised by numerous traditional classics. Our IKI colleagues Dainius Špakauskas and Thierry Lauvray present three of them today.
One thing is certain: food unites. It plays a central role in traditions and festivals, as well as in everyday gatherings. In Lithuania, too, the culinary arts characterise social interaction and at the same time provide insights into the country's history and identity.
Today, IKI chef Dainius Špakauskas and IKI head pastry chef Thierry Lauvray take you on a culinary journey through their homeland and present three typical Lithuanian classics: the savoury cepelinai - stuffed potato dumplings, the summery-fresh Šaltibarščiai, a cold beetroot soup, and the popular honey pastry medutis.
Watch the video to find out how the dishes are made and which ingredients make them unique. And if you would like to try one of the recipes for yourself: We wish you bon appétit, or as they say in Lithuania: Skanaus!
