How Germany eats: Street Food Classics and Festive Traditions
by Isabel Meier, Film: REWE Group-Filmteam

From quick snacks to traditional holiday feasts, German cuisine is often simple yet full of history. Our colleague Eike introduces two savoury specialities.

Currywurst is a classic example of German street food culture: simple, hearty, and somehow at home everywhere. Whether it was invented in Berlin, Hamburg or the Ruhr region is still a matter of debate today.

Quite different, but no less steeped in tradition, is potato salad. For many families, it's an essential part of Christmas Eve celebrations. The way this German classic should be prepared reliably divides western and northern Germany.

Watch the video to find out how these dishes are made. Enjoy watching and trying them out for yourself!
