PENNY has long been an integral part of the retail landscape in Hungary. The company has been operating in the country since 1996, making it Hungary’s oldest surviving discount supermarket chain. Today, approximately 5,400 employees in 248 stores work daily to serve customers.
PENNY Hungary is not only committed to offering a diverse range of products, but also, through its ‘Girbe-Gurba’ programme, sells fruit and vegetables with minor imperfections at reduced prices. This gives perfectly good food a second chance and helps to reduce food waste. Furthermore, PENNY works with the Hungarian Association of Food Banks to save surplus food and support people in need.
