In view of the increased energy and cost of living, REWE Group and its affiliated REWE retailers will grant all employees an inflation compensation discount of five per cent on purchases at REWE and PENNY from 1 January to 30 September 2023. Together with the five per cent employee discount that will apply again from 1 January 2023, employees will continue to benefit from a total discount of ten per cent during this period.
In addition, employees in the participating Group companies in Germany* receive a tax- and social security-free inflation adjustment of 200 euros with their February salary. If the level of employment is below 30 per cent, 75 euros will be paid out.
"We will continue to face the challenges posed by the rising cost of living in the coming year. We are therefore very pleased that we can once again provide direct financial relief for our employees," says Lionel Souque, CEO of the REWE Group.
"The General Works Council expressly welcomes the Management Board's supportive measures in view of the continuing high financial burdens on employees. These are a great support for our colleagues and their families in covering their living costs," explains Helmut Göttmann, Chairman of the REWE/PENNY General Works Council.
The inflation compensation discount applies to purchases up to a discounted revenue of 1,000 euros per month. Within this limit, the discount is tax- and social security-free** for employees. In addition to food, the discount is also granted on almost all other product groups. Press, tobacco products and value-added services are excluded. The other general conditions are still based on the REWE Group employee discount and can be viewed in the InfoNet.

From now on, employees will also receive the employee discount in 280 REWE Dortmund stores and in all REWE ihr kaufpark shops.
Employees can recognise participating stores by the "Team Markt" sticker on the entrance door. Colleagues at REWE Dortmund can now benefit from the REWE Group's employee benefits.

Hello, unfortunately no discount was granted on my purchases from August 2023 at Rewe Dortmund and only 5% at all other Rewe stores. Has the inflation discount already been limited from August? Best regards

Hi Fredi, that's not correct. There is currently a 10% discount in all participating REWE and Penny stores, which is made up of a 5% group discount and a 5% inflation discount. This also applies to the participating REWE Dortmund stores. The additional inflation discount is limited until 30 September 2023, i.e. only after this date will the normal 5% group discount be available again everywhere.
