Martin Czoske new CFO

Change in the management of Toom Baumarkt DIY store: CFO Niko Johns has asked to end his contract on 30 April 2022 for personal reasons in order to take on a new professional challenge outside REWE Group. Johns will complement his broad retail expertise by moving to another sector.

REWE Group Management Board member Christian Mielsch, responsible for the specialist shop business of the Cologne-based retail and tourism group, said: "We wish Niko Johns every success in his new management role in the Wholesale/Logistics division and would like to thank him for his great commitment and the associated outstanding achievements and contributions during his many years at REWE Group."

The new CFO at Toom Baumarkt DIY store will be Martin Czoske, previously Head of Holding Management, M&A and Controlling at REWE Group. Czoske will join Toom Baumarkt DIY store on 1 March 2022 and take up his new role on 1 April after a short induction period. He will then report to René Haßfeld, Divisional Director for the Toom Baumarkt DIY store business segment.

Martin Czoske has been successfully working for REWE Group in various management positions for more than 10 years after holding positions at a consulting firm and investment banks. As Head of Investment Management/M&A for many years, he played a key role in the development of the Group portfolio, for example through the negotiations for Kaiser's Tengelmann, the acquisition of Wasgau AG and the takeover of the Kuoni travel business.

At the end of 2016, after acquiring a majority stake in Supermärkte Nord Vertriebs GmbH & Co KG, which operated the sky supermarkets in northern Germany, he moved to Kiel to join the managing directors there. Following the successful conversion of the sky stores into REWE supermarkets and the subsequent successful integration of the company into REWE Markt GmbH, he returned to the Cologne-based Holding on 1 January 2020 in his current management role, in which he has since been responsible for implementing a large number of key Group projects.

Christian Mielsch said: "I am delighted that in Martin Czoske we have found an ideal successor for the CFO role at Toom Baumarkt DIY store within our own company, and I wish him every success in his new role."
