Football Inclusion Cup organised by REWE and Aktion Mensch
Excitement, fun and games
by Frauke Weber und Achim Bachhausen

In order to draw attention to the social importance of sport, the fifth round of Scheine für Vereine is being organised for the first time in cooperation with Aktion Mensch. A junior football tournament was the successful kick-off, as there were only winners.

Excitement, fun and games around the Geißbockheim of 1. FC Köln: On Saturday (25 May), REWE and Aktion Mensch hosted the first Football Inclusion Cup for E-youth teams and U17 inclusion teams. Children and young people with and without disabilities played in several rounds up to the final - a total of 16 teams from Cologne and the region. After many exciting and fair matches, the team from 1. FC Wülfrath was crowned the winner. They beat TuRa Oberdrees 2:0 in glorious sunshine, followed by DJK Arminia Eilendorf in third place.

The large winner's trophy made of light-coloured wood was presented by Christina Marx, spokesperson for Aktion Mensch and member of the management, and Lionel Souque, CEO of REWE Group. "Inclusive sport helps to break down mental barriers. Because in sport, differences fade into the background and fears of contact are naturally reduced," said Christina Marx at the award ceremony on site.
Lionel Souque added: "For me, it was great to see how sport - and team sport in particular - always manages to bring together people from different backgrounds and then work together at full throttle towards a common goal. I am therefore delighted that we were able to organise the 1st Football Inclusion Cup this year."

The winning team and REWE boss Lionel Souque were delighted to receive the tournament trophy and 500 club tickets.
In addition to the trophy, the team from 1. FC Wülfrath also received a voucher for 500 club tickets. They are part of the "Scheine für Vereine" ("Vouchers for Clubs") campaign, with which REWE also supports amateur sports clubs in Germany in cooperation with Aktion Mensch.

There was a colourful and sporty supporting programme around the games. The football freestyle pair Corvin & Serafina (Corvin is top 4 in Germany and Sera is a multiple German champion) were also on site with various workshops and shows. Away from the pitch, there were exciting activities for everyone: Bolzbox, smoothie bike, football darts, tombola, smaller challenges, photo box or even skittles football.

"For me, it was great to see how sport - and team sport in particular - always manages to bring people from different backgrounds together and then give it their all to achieve a common goal. I am therefore delighted that we were able to organise the 1st Football Inclusion Cup this year."

Prominent supporters: Jamal Musiala and Thomas Müller

The Inclusion Cup was also the kick-off event for this year's "Scheine für Vereine" campaign. Together with brand ambassadors Jamal Musiala and Thomas Müller, REWE is calling for support for amateur sports clubs in Germany. It's very simple: to support amateur sport, customers will receive a free club voucher for every 15 euros spent between 27 May and 30 June in participating REWE and nahkauf stores or when ordering via the REWE online shop. Customers assign their club vouchers to a sports club in the REWE app or online at rewe.de/scheinefürvereine so that the club can secure the free rewards. Amateur sports clubs must register for the campaign by 28 July in order to redeem the assigned club vouchers. The clubs also have until this date to redeem the club vouchers for free rewards. There is an extensive catalogue of over 120 attractive free rewards for many different sports to choose from. These include free rewards that support inclusive sport and were selected in cooperation with Aktion Mensch.
The campaign also asks the sports clubs themselves to get as many people as possible to collect club vouchers for them: Personalised posters, videos and fan selfies can be created on a special campaign website, which the sports clubs can share on Instagram, WhatsApp & Co. to mobilise members, friends and acquaintances.
Incidentally, any registered amateur sports club in Germany can take part. It is not the number of members that is decisive when it comes to which or how many free bonuses a sports club can receive - it is the teamwork that counts. Over 23,000 sports clubs actively and enthusiastically took part in the last 2023 campaign. They redeemed almost 64 million club vouchers for over 114,000 rewards to support their work and training in the clubs. All rewards together had a value of over 19 million euros.
Amateur sports clubs can contact rewe@scheinefuervereine.de with any questions relating to registration.
