This is the REWE Group Star

The REWE Group Star is a company-wide team competition for trainees and junior employees of the REWE Group. One of the aims of the competition is to strengthen sustainability awareness among young colleagues and to encourage and support them in their development.

It is important that they independently carry out an action or project that is characterised by a positive contribution to people, animals or the environment and does not pursue any economic goals. The commitment of the participants is voluntary and the teams can take advantage of start-up funding of 200 euros.

The assessment criteria include that the submitted project has created added value for people and/or the environment, how much and how independently the participants have committed themselves to the project realisation, how creative the project was and how much attention it was able to attract within and outside the company.

The prizes are usually travel vouchers from DER Travel and Tourism.

10 years of REWE Group Star

launched in 2013, the REWE Group Star was awarded for the tenth time this year. For this reason, there were not just five, but ten winning teams who were honoured at an awards ceremony where they presented their projects.

In total, there have been
189 projects submitted
62 winning teams
855 participants

The topics of the submitted projects were diverse, ranging from species conservation to water supply in cut-off locations. There were projects on climate and environmental protection, animal welfare, inclusion and more sport and exercise for children. Some projects supported social or nature conservation organisations, while others focused on sustainable business practices and upcycling. The commitment ranged from local for the local daycare centre to global for well construction in African villages.
