Since 1 May, REWE and brand ambassador Jamal Musiala have been calling for support for amateur sports clubs in Germany: "For more life in sports clubs" is the motto of this year's popular "Scheine für Vereine" campaign.
The professional footballer knows exactly what he is talking about when he praises friendship, solidarity and tolerance in the many amateur sports clubs in Germany. After all, Jamal Musiala started his own career at TSV Lehnerz in Fulda.
Together with Jamal Musiala, club members, family, friends and neighbours can now once again contribute to supporting amateur sports clubs. "I think REWE's 'Scheine für Vereine' campaign is sensational and I'm very happy to support it. I myself have very positive memories of my club days at TSV Lehnerz in Fulda, when I took my first steps in football there as a Bambini. It is important to promote club life and support the many volunteers in their work. Sports clubs play a major role in social cohesion and integration. I can identify 100 per cent with these values as a person and an athlete. I can see just how important the work of sports clubs is with my younger brother. He has a great club in SV Straßlach, feels at home there and has already made lots of friends," says Jamal Musiala.
For every purchase made between 1 May and 11 June in all participating REWE or nahkauf stores or via the REWE online shop, customers will receive one club voucher for every 15 euros spent. Customers assign their club vouchers to a sports club online at rewe.de/scheinefürvereine so that the club can secure the free rewards. Amateur sports clubs must register for the campaign by 9 July 2023 in order to redeem the assigned club vouchers. Sports clubs also have until this date to redeem the club vouchers for free rewards. There is an extensive catalogue of over 120 attractive free rewards for many different sports to choose from.
"REWE's commitment to popular sports has always been important to us. What's more, many of our retailers are friends with their local sports clubs. These clubs in particular do a great job, even though they are mostly run on a voluntary basis. We want to support them all with 'Scheine für Vereine'. After all, many sports clubs have been through difficult times with coronavirus and inflation. And of course we are also delighted to have the support of Jamal, who knows the important work of local sports clubs from his own experience," says Philipp Hohmann, Head of Brand Marketing at REWE. "Scheine für Vereine" will run from 1 May on all channels, such as the website, on TV and on the company's own social media channels.
The campaign also asks the sports clubs themselves to get as many people as possible to collect club vouchers for them: Personalised GIFs, posters and videos can be created on a special campaign website, which the sports clubs can share on Instagram, WhatsApp & Co. and thus mobilise members, friends and acquaintances.
Incidentally, any registered amateur sports club in Germany can take part. It is not the number of members that is decisive when it comes to which or how many free bonuses a sports club can receive. Rather, it's about teamwork and working together to bring more life to the sports club. Over 20,000 sports clubs actively and enthusiastically participated in the last 2022 campaign. They redeemed almost 54 million club vouchers for over 93,000 rewards to support their work and training in the clubs. All rewards together had a value of over 14.5 million euros.
