Experience AI
Knowledge break with our experts: AI can already do a lot, but can it change the way we shop? Lionel Souque in a video interview
On the fringes of the WELT Economic Summit, our CEO Lionel Souque spoke in a video interview about the future of shopping, high-tech stores, customer loyalty and how our REWE and PENNY apps make shopping more personal.
Digitisation
It creates images or films, optimises shelf space in our stores and controls robots. More than two years have passed since AI finally reached the end user with ChatGPT and one thing is clear: this was not an AI bubble that will quickly burst again. AI is here to stay and will change many things in our lives and our everyday working lives.
Retail Media Xperience
Retail media is developing into an advertising genre in its own right. We recognised this potential at an early stage and have driven the topic forward as a pioneer. Together with 430 experts and partners, we took a look at current trends at the Retail Media Xperience event. Our Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Christoph Eltze, was there and gives his assessment of the market in the video.
BILLA and BILLA PLUS
Triple-digit billion sums are already flowing into retail media worldwide. Digital screens, where advertisers reach customers directly at the point of sale, are the growth market for the advertising industry. This is why we invested in this market at an early stage - both in Germany and abroad.

People at the centre
With the AI Act, the EU was the first region to provide clear rules for dealing with this technology. With our "REWE digital AI Manifesto" and our project on generative AI, we are promoting the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Catch pilot project
A digital companion for in-store shopping has been trialled in Cologne since the beginning of the year. Efficient product searches, navigation and personalised product suggestions are intended to provide an intuitive experience that rethinks grocery shopping.
AI in the market
Our analytics team is constantly on the lookout for innovative solutions that make work easier for employees in the stores. One of our latest projects is called HOLMES - and that's no coincidence.
On the road to success
In the coming months, three more stores will launch autonomous check-out facilities. The REWE innovation project is also being celebrated at an international level: This year's "Future of European Commerce Award" goes to REWE Pick&Go in the "Digitalisation" category.
Chip magazine has recognised toom as the industry leader in the "digital service offering" in the DIY store and retail sector.

A good idea is catching on: More than 3,000 stores are already equipped with digital steles. Recently, brand messages can also be streamed on them. REWE merchant Ralf Stücken reports.
