REWE ends cooperation with the DFB
"The scandalous attitude of FIFA is absolutely unacceptable to me"

Following FIFA's current decisions and the statements made by FIFA President Infantino, REWE Group clearly distances itself from FIFA's position and waives its advertising rights under the contract with the DFB - especially in the context of the World Cup.

As REWE Group, we stand for diversity and have been an active football sponsor for many years: "For us, football is about fair play, tolerance and cohesion - we also uphold these values," says REWE Group CEO Lionel Souque. "We stand up for diversity - and football is diversity too. We live this attitude and we defend it - even in the face of possible resistance. FIFA's scandalous stance is absolutely unacceptable to me as the CEO of a diverse company and as a football fan."

REWE had already informed the DFB in October that it would not be continuing its long-standing partnership agreement - without any substantive connection to the World Cup. However, following FIFA's current decisions and the statements made by FIFA President Infantino, REWE feels compelled to distance itself clearly from FIFA's position and to relinquish its advertising rights under the contract with the DFB - especially in the context of the World Cup. REWE informed the DFB of this today.

We expressly wish the German national team and all the players every success in the World Cup. "We stand by your side and are rooting for you!" says Souque.

The collector's album currently available at REWE is now being distributed free of charge, with the company bearing the costs. REWE will donate all proceeds from the album after the end of the promotion. The exact value and the recipients of the donation will be announced accordingly.

The question marks should actually represent the Icon: Thumbs up, did not work.

I think it's huge.... Everyone should react like rewe. But unfortunately money rules the world... Nevertheless, I am proud to work at toom and to belong to the rewe group...

That is only logical and absolutely right in my opinion nach❗️ I would have expected the DFB to take the same stance when it came to the debate about the captain's armband (One Love). I would have been very curious to see what sanctions FIFA would have imposed if the armband had been worn after all. If the 6 nations had been united, it would certainly have been possible to build up a lot of pressure and I don't think the unspeakable Infantino would have sent all 6 nations home. hats off to Mr Souque and all those involved in this decision ???? ❗️
