"Two to One" resurrects the GDR and tells the true story of the East German mark in its final stages. In "The Dead Don't Hurt", actor and director Viggo Mortensen looks at the colonisation of North America through the eyes of a young migrant. The years 1985 to 2020 in West Germany can be watched on the ARD Plus streaming channel with 1,758 episodes of "Lindenstraße".

Two to one was the exchange rate at which the GDR was settled in 1990 - at least in monetary terms. The confiscated East German mark notes were taken to a secret bunker. Only a few attentive residents of Trabantenstadt discovered the billion-dollar grave and opened up a flourishing trade in the used foreign currency.
The story is real, as is the set for the most part, and the cast is high-calibre and good-humoured. "Zwei zu Eins" is the perfect summer comedy with show value and a punchline that even comes up with a truly astonishing punchline in the finale.
Natja Brunckhorst
At the age of 13, Natja Brunckhorst becomes the face of Christiane F. in the film version of "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" (1981). The hype surrounding her became too much for the Berliner and she moved to London and Paris before enrolling at drama school in Bochum in 1991. After surviving cancer, Brunckhorst began writing screenplays in 1998, including the autobiographical story for "Wie Feuer und Flamme", for which she was awarded the Lola in 2001. Her feature film debut as a director, "Alles in bester Ordnung" with Corinna Harfouch, was released in cinemas in 2022.

They are called revisionist or anti-westerns, the films that dispel the myth of the white, male heroes who conquered and colonised North America. In "The Dead Don't Hurt", men hardly play a role beyond the cliché of the hooligan or quiet loner. At the centre of the anti-western written and directed by Viggo Mortensen is the Francophone settler Vivienne, who is determined to make her way through the inhospitable land. Danish immigrant Holger seems to be a good companion for her, until the war separates them.
Vicky Krieps
Vicky Krieps knows how to put her own personal stamp on even small roles with her naturalness and restraint, for example as a model and muse in "The Silk Thread" (2017) or in Daniel Brühl's directorial debut "Next Door" (2021). Born in Hesperingen in 1983, the Luxembourgish-German Berliner-by-choice turns leading roles into exciting character studies, including Empress Sisi in "Corsage" (2022) and Ingeborg Bachmann in Margarethe von Trotta's "Journey into the Desert" (2023). So it's no wonder that Viggo Mortensen gives her the centre of the action in his second directorial effort.

DVD Lindenstraße © WDR
On 8 December 1985, the first episode flickered across the screens of the CRT sets in German households, on 29 March 2020 the last, in HD and at the same time in the ARD media library. Everything in between is a piece of German television history, not only technically, but above all in terms of the plot and the history of its creation. The Munich-based "Lindenstraße" was set up on the WDR premises in Cologne Bocklemünd, where the fates of the Beimer, Zenker, Sarikakis, Dressler and Ziegler families unfolded and where there was always room for current affairs references. On the ARD Plus streaming channel, the 1758 episodes can easily be binged, which once took linear television 34 years.

Game Speed Dating for Ghosts © Copychaser Games
The game is no longer brand new (released in 2018), but neither are its protagonists. To be more precise, they have already faded and landed in hell, where they are pretty bored all alone at the bar of the hottest club. 10 ghosts, 10 mysterious fates, 10 hearts that need to be connected. "Speed Dating for Ghosts" is a fun little indy game that pokes fun at the horror genre while dealing with emotions in a very serious way.
