Beijing, London, Manila and Frankfurt: as different as these metropolises are, they are all home to innovative shop concepts that have been nominated for the "Smartest Store in the World" award. Among them is the REWE To Go Smart Store at Frankfurt Airport.
Whether Lekkerland really does run the smartest convenience shop in the world will be decided in mid-June. The winner of the competition organised by NACS (the trade association for convenience and fuel retailers) and Insight Research will then be announced. However, the Lekkerland team can already celebrate a stage victory today, as the first cashierless shop in a German airport has made it onto the shortlist.
"It is a great honour for us to be on the shortlist of this competition together with outstanding smart store solutions from all over the world," commented Klaus Albus on the stage win. Together with Nicoletta Kyll and Kai Süßmann, he is responsible for the development and operation of the site at Lekkerland.
