Just in time for the holiday travel rush, Aral has opened a pilot site for modern motorway service stations at the Northeim service station on the A7 motorway. A key feature is a modern REWE To Go shop. The service station in Lower Saxony is the first Aral site to feature REWE To Go in its new design.
Smart car park management, a modern REWE To Go shop, a truckers’ lounge and fully refurbished toilet facilities – Aral has launched a pilot site for modern motorway service stations at the Northeim service station on the A7 motorway. In just four months’ construction, the existing building was completely refurbished and its floor space expanded by around a third, the shop was completely rebuilt, and an AI-controlled car park system was installed.

The car park comprises a total of 104 lorry spaces and 48 car spaces, 10 of which are for short-term parking. The lorry car park is managed by a smart AI system – featuring barrier-free parking and number plate recognition. When paying at the till, lorry drivers receive a car park voucher which they can redeem for food or drinks at the REWE To Go shop. In addition, the toilet facilities have been completely modernised and a lorry drivers’ lounge measuring around 38 square metres is available for lorry drivers to use.
The Aral service station in Northeim now has a modern REWE To Go shop covering around 250 square metres. This has been created in collaboration with Lekkerland and features a new design. Truckers and travellers can enjoy a wide selection of fresh snacks and meals, barista-quality coffee available both at the counter and as self-service, as well as a wide range of drinks and popular products from the motorway service area’s range.
