Quickly fill up your car with electricity while the driver and passengers enjoy a bite to eat: Ionity and Lekkerland are making it possible in a new fast-charging park.

Customers select the items they want on a touchscreen and pay for them without cash. Super-fast charging and tasty treats to keep you going on the road and at home - that's what the new Rostock fast-charging park offers. In addition to eleven charging points, it also has a fully automated shop under the REWE ready brand. Together, Ionity and our convenience division Lekkerland are making the charging stop on the car journey even easier and more convenient: at the charging park on the A19 motorway, anyone who is hungry can stock up on coffee, cool drinks, fresh snacks and other food at the smart store around the clock. The range includes around 150 items in total, including non-refrigerated, refrigerated and frozen products.

Shopping in the REWE ready Smart Store is intuitive and fast: customers select the items they want on a touchscreen and pay for them without cash. A conveyor belt then automatically brings the products from the closed-off storage area of the shop to the shoppers. There is also a coffee machine where various coffee specialities can be ordered and also paid for without cash.

What many charging park users want
"Many travellers want to enjoy a snack or coffee during their charging stop. That's why we're delighted that our customers in Rostock can now enjoy a comprehensive range of REWE ready services directly at our fast-charging car park," says Christoph Strecker, responsible for the Ionity network in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Hot and cold drinks are popular with travellers. Thanks to REWE ready, the distances are short.
"Our smart store solutions make it possible to supplement locations such as charging parks without on-site staff with attractive offers for immediate consumption or quick shopping. We are excited to see how the store will be received by customers and residents in Rostock," says Michael Mayer-Sonnenburg, Director Franchise & Convenience Stores at Lekkerland.

Unique portfolio of smart store solutions
Lekkerland offers a portfolio of smart store solutions that is unique in Germany. This includes five concepts that are designed for different locations and utilise different technologies. "In addition to robotics technology, which is also used in Rostock, these include self-checkout solutions, smart vending and smart fridges as well as computer vision, which utilises artificial intelligence," says Mehmet Tözge, Director Smart Store Development. About Ionity

Ionity builds and operates the largest open-brand high-power charging (HPC) network along European motorways. The HPC charging capacity of up to 350 kW enables maximum charging speeds. As a commitment to Sustainability, Ionity only uses renewable energy for emission-free and CO2-neutral driving. In July 2023, the HPC network counted more than 500 charging stations and more than 2,500 charging points in 24 European countries.
