What Nico Schmücking and Leon Basic have in common is that they both contribute to making REWE Group more diverse, inclusive and open. Here they explain why this is a win-win situation for everyone.

Nico Schmücking, IT Security Engineer at REWE digital, is humorous and open to conversation when faced with the insecurities that others display in view of his physical disability. Sometimes he even sits under a desk to do so. Leon Basic, on the other hand, has an autism spectrum disorder. After his supervised vocational training to become a shop assistant, he completed a two-week internship at nahkauf Surges in Trier. Basic fitted in so well with the team that he has now had a permanent position as a sales assistant with retailers Gerhard and Hannelore Surges since summer 2023. A win-win situation for everyone...

Skilled labour shortage By 2036, there will be a shortage of 7.5 million workers. Boldly changing the perspective - recruiting in Cinemascope format for often unseen target groups! There is a lot to uncover at the blurred edges of the world of work: hidden potential and motivational oases to be tapped. And, mostly unknown, there are a variety of funding opportunities ... The corresponding funding instruments of the labour administration are not accessed to the extent possible because applicants and employers do not find each other. Or the training year or employment relationship implodes after a short time because all sides are disappointed and give up prematurely. It becomes even more difficult when groups of people with very special personality traits are looking for a job. Autistic people are such a challenging but also very interesting group of people.
