In the big screen stories, autumn is human. For example in Kelly Reichardt's crook comedy "The Mastermind", in which a young father plans an art heist in the autumnal US province. Bookseller Agathe is secretly waiting for someone to steal her heart in the romantic comedy "Jane Austen and the Chaos in My Life". Meanwhile, the crime-thriller series "The Savant" with Jessica Chastain on apple tv+ generates suspense.

Either way, James has to hit the ground running as a father, husband, son, carpenter or art thief. He opts for the latter and immediately sets out with two friends to rob the local museum in Framington, Massachusetts.
Director Kelly Reichardt is a master at staging bizarre places and situations as if you could experience them yourself. While in "Meek's Cutoff" (2010) and "First Cow" (2019) it was everyday life in the not-so-wild West, in "The Mastermind" it is an art heist in the autumnal, sleepy US province of the 1970s.

Josh O'Connor
Scruffy, battered and a little shy are the film and TV characters that actor Josh O'Connor slips into as if they were handmade shoes for him personally. This is particularly noticeable in the series "The Crown", in which the Englishman, born in 1990, plays the young Prince Charles with all his mannerisms. O'Connor previously proved that this can also have an erotic component in 2017 in the rugged rural romantic drama "God's Own Country" and in 2024 in the triangle with Mike Faist and Zendaya in "Challangers".

She was simply born in the wrong century. Parisian bookseller Agathe is sure of it. Dating apps aren't her thing and a Mr Darcy doesn't seem to want to snowball into her shop either. But she does receive an invitation to a two-week stay at the Jane Austen Society in England.
Author Laura Piani has dug deep into Jane Austen's oeuvre. She has emerged from her feelings, longings and confusions with a cleverly modern story, which she has directed herself and perfectly cast with Camille Rutherford.

Camille Rutherford
In the case of "Jane Austen and the Chaos in My Life", you should watch the original version if possible, as Camille Rutherford's bilingual linguistic talent adds another delightful layer to this romcom. Born in Paris in 1990, Rutherford speaks perfect English thanks to her British father. She owes her enchanting accent to the fact that she grew up in Clermont-Ferrant and studied acting in Paris. In Germany, she can be seen alongside Sandra Hüller in the highly acclaimed drama "Anatomy of a Case" (2023).

All the hatred and malice, the threats and the implied violence that are openly expressed in chat forums and social media platforms are already hard to bear. But how dark and criminal is it in the hidden and closed corners of the internet? These are the places where "The Savant" investigates, top secret, because infiltrating criminal groups is itself a criminal offence.
It's a pretty hot potato that series writer and developer Melissa James Gibson ("House of Cards") is tackling in her new series. You need nerves of steel on screen just like Jessica Chastain in the title role.

Regions, rulers, people and battles on a world map with timeline. Events and people with a link to the relevant Wikipedia page. Who wouldn't have wished for something like this in history lessons?
