An interview with Dr Robert Kecskes
Climate action is losing ground in the public debate. At the same time, sustainability is on the rise. 97 per cent of German households buy organic products, plant-based alternatives are becoming the norm in many kitchens, and locally sourced produce remains an important factor for many people when making purchasing decisions. How does this all fit together?
Study to mark International Co-operatives Day
Germany is lacking a sense of community. At the same time, there is a growing expectation that companies should take responsibility for social cohesion. This is shown by a recent, representative study carried out by the REWE Group, which is being published to mark International Co-operatives Day on 4 July.
Reliable, crisis-proof, fair
Our latest survey shows: Fairness, stability and the common good are strongly associated with the co-operative model - more than with any other form of company. And yet over 60 % of people are barely aware of the principle - or that we at REWE Group are organised in this way. Time to realise the potential - and give the cooperative the stage it deserves.
Top with customers
For the fourth time in a row, toom has received the "Best Retailer of the Year" award in the DIY store category. The award is based on a survey conducted by Globis Consulting GmbH, in which German and Austrian consumers submitted more than 140,000 ratings in 15 different categories.
Environmental impact costs
The University of Greifswald and Nuremberg Institute of Technology present the evaluation of the "True Costs" project. The aim of the project, to stimulate discussion, was achieved. PENNY donates the additional income of 375,000 euros generated from the campaign week to the Future Builders project.
Nutrition report
In December, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture published its latest Food Report 2023. How does Germany eat? Is the trend towards plant-based alternative products continuing? How many people are at the cooker every day, and how often does the kitchen stay cold? The most important results summarised here.
How have consumers' preferences and purchasing behaviour with regard to more sustainable food developed in the face of successive crises? A joint study by REWE Group, GfK Consumer Panel Services and the German Sustainability Award Foundation has investigated this question. The results give cause for long-term confidence.
Chip magazine has recognised toom as the industry leader in the "digital service offering" in the DIY store and retail sector.
