The International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Inter- and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is celebrated on 17 May. To mark the occasion, REWE Group once again showed its colours with its business units across Germany. Employees hoisted the rainbow flag in front of numerous stores and Central locations to show the outside world what values the company stands for: For tolerance, acceptance and a non-discriminatory working environment.
At the Stolberger Straße Central locations in Cologne, the CEO of the REWE Group and di.to. patron Lionel Souque raised the colourful flag in person, sending out a clear signal: "One third of LGBTIQ* employees experience discrimination in the workplace. I cannot and will not accept this and therefore support today's IDAHOBIT day, because such days of action contribute to a more inclusive working environment and demonstrate respect for ALL people," said Souque in Cologne.

The global day of action has been drawing attention to LGBTIQ*-hostile violence and discrimination for over 15 years now. The date was chosen to commemorate 17 May 1990, when the World Health Organisation decided to finally remove homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses and thus destigmatise it.

Is your market or location also taking part and setting an example for diversity and tolerance with the rainbow flag or activities in the market?
Then send us a photo (no larger than 1 MB) to one@rewe-group.com with the subject "IDAHOBIT". We will show the best pictures in one.

By the way: we are also flying the flag in our internal and external corporate media: since the beginning of May, the one_logo and the REWE Group logo have been shining in rainbow colours in the Infonet, on the corporate website and on REWE Group's social media channels. REWE and PENNY are also using rainbow colours in the social networks. Read more about this here.
