Platinum for Pride
REWE Group shines in diversity ranking
by Julia Dopjans

Diversity works: Thanks to the commitment of many colleagues and the DITO network, REWE Group achieved a top result in the PRIDE Index 2025 - 98.44 per cent and thus the platinum level for the first time. A strong sign of openness and cohesion in practice.in this interview, DITO network spokesperson Martina Weinhold explains what this award means for us and our company - especially now.

REWE Group has achieved an outstanding result in this year's PRIDE Index of the Uhlala Group: At 98.44 per cent, we reach the platinum level for the first time. This continues the impressive development of recent years - from 80.13 per cent (2022) to 90 per cent (2023) and 95.67 per cent (2024).

"The very high rating of around 98 percentage points is a strong signal for us: our commitment to an open and safe working environment is having an impact. We have continuously improved over the years. And that's important - because true belonging is still not a matter of course. This is precisely why we are continuing," says DITO network spokesperson Martina Weinhold.

What the PRIDE Index evaluates

The PRIDE Index evaluates how companies promote LGBTIQ+ inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities and embed them in their organisational culture. The fact that REWE Group has been certified for three years and is constantly improving its results shows how consistently the topic is being promoted internally.

Commitment that has an impact

The result recognises the commitment of many people in the company: Whether at network meetings, the Come Together Cup, the postcard campaign or the CSD - initiatives and formats of the DITO network create visibility and have an impact. They help to ensure that diversity and belonging are not only communicated but actively practised within REWE Group.

"Real belonging is not a matter of course"

Martina Weinhold

one: What does the award mean for our company - and why is it an important signal right now?

Martina Weinhold: "The platinum award shows that our commitment to diversity is not only noticeable internally, but is also taken seriously externally. And that is particularly important now, when diversity issues are once again coming under fire in society. For us as a DITO network, it is confirmation that we are on the right track - and at the same time an incentive to continue to ensure that all employees really do feel welcome."

one: In your opinion, what developments in recent years have contributed to our commitment to diversity now receiving this recognition?

Martina Weinhold: "A lot of things come together. The management is clearly behind the topic and this is also visible. At the same time, we have implemented concrete measures - from network meetings to CSD participation.but the attitude in everyday life is just as important: diversity is not seen as a compulsory topic, but as an enrichment. You can feel that in meetings, in conversations and generally in the way we treat each other here."

one: What do you notice in your work in the DITO network - where do you feel that corporate culture is changing in concrete terms?

Martina Weinhold: "Above all in the way it is taken for granted. In the past, many topics were rather cautious - today it is more normal to use pronouns, talk more openly about personal realities or address things that are not inclusive. That doesn't mean that everything is perfect. But the direction is right and there is a real willingness to learn."
