
Regional product ranges are one of the strengths of our stores. This has now been impressively confirmed by the industry competition "Regional Star", in which several REWE teams placed. One of them was particularly impressive - thanks to its employees.

From the point of sale to the online presentation - the "Regional Star" in the Marketing category is not about casual staging, but about serious concepts. REWE Stenten impressed the expert jury with its "Aachen Liebe" campaign.

REWE Stenten gave its local specialities a face. However, it was not the producers who stood in front of the camera for the emotional campaign, but 40 employees who presented their personal favourite regional product from the 400 on offer. The campaign under the motto "Aachen Liebe" (Aachen Love) (see image slider) attracted attention on 50 rented Citylight areas in the city and in the Aachener Zeitung newspaper, but also generated a huge increase in sales: during the campaign period, sales of Regio products rose by 15 to 70 per cent. "Many people only realised how many regional products we have thanks to the campaign," says Max Stenten, taking stock with satisfaction.
Regional strength for Egelsbach
The products come from a maximum distance of 100 kilometres from the market and are produced in accordance with the criteria of the "Gutes aus Hessen" seal of approval wherever possible: REWE Center Egelsbach was also nominated in the marketing category and came third. To bring the delicacies closer to the customers, the store team organised numerous campaigns, from the farmers' market at Whitsun to harvest events with tastings and a harvest festival. Regional fairs and excursions to suppliers rounded off the programme. Increasing revenue in the regional segment and growing interest in the promotions from customers and suppliers are proof of the success of the programme
Award-winning co-operations
REWE Andrea Fürst oHG in Wiesau (REWE Region South) won silver in the trade co-operation category, in which fair partnerships between farmers and food retailers for marketing regional products were evaluated, with "Living regionality together". Third place went to REWE Jan Radke oHG (REWE East) for the concept "From around the corner with heart".
On Tuesday (23 January), the Berlin consumer fair Grüne Woche and the trade magazine Lebensmittelpraxis presented the "Regional Star" award for the ninth time to sustainable regional concepts from the food trade. The focus was on products and concepts that are not only new and innovative, but also leave an ecological footprint that is impressive.
