Daniel Gieske likes his area of responsibility, his working environment and the corporate culture at REWE Group. The only thing missing for his professional happiness was the opportunity for further development. Thanks to the GO! talent pool, he can now combine everything after an internal transfer to Laura Denis' department. The internal job market also has many advantages for her.

"I can look back on four years of experience in marketing at PENNY, where I was particularly responsible for communicating offers, both digitally and in flyers. I will soon be moving to REWE Ecommerce, more specifically to REWE Delivery Service, where I will be working as Team Lead in Promotions and Price Management. I can see some parallels with my previous position, but an online shop provides detailed information on customer behaviour, which can be used as a basis for optimisation. I find this exciting as I enjoy working analytically with facts and figures. I can utilise these skills even more in my new position. However, the change is not easy for me, as I really enjoyed my previous tasks and felt very comfortable in the team.
The decision to move internally was made during a STEPs discussion. As further development steps within my previous area would have been difficult at the time - especially with my focus on numbers, data and facts - I decided to look for opportunities in the Talent Pool. Just one month after registering, a suitable vacancy was suggested to me. After a pleasant conversation with Laura Denis, my future senior manager, I decided to take part in the application process. My previous senior manager gave me a lot of support during this process and encouraged me to take this step. This support was very valuable to me.
I identify strongly with the values of REWE Group and its corporate culture. This gives me the certainty that this culture will not change when I move internally. And that is just as important to me as a harmonious working environment. I also really like the dynamic start-up atmosphere at Carlswerk.
When filling out the Talent Pool form, you should put a lot of effort into painting a complete and authentic picture of yourself. I also advise you to keep an open mind for different subject areas and to look into departments that you may have little contact with, but which arouse curiosity.
Daniel Gieske will soon be joining REWE Lieferservice as Team Lead Promotional Business

"Shortly before I was looking for a team leader for the promotional business, I received the information about GO! Promotions teams like ours also exist at toom, PENNY and the stationary colleagues. So I thought about talented people from these areas who wouldn't be able to develop there due to a lack of vacancies. So I asked our recruiter to take a look around the new talent pool. I immediately received a call from the internal sourcer, who I was able to provide with the important parameters for the position.
The process went quickly: the pool was combed through and I was given access to anonymised summaries of the candidates. I stated my preferences and then internal sourcing clarified the potential interest. I interviewed three people, and in the end it was Daniel. It was all a great fit. We also had external applications, but the internal candidates were more convincing.
As a senior manager, it's important to think beyond your own area in order to strengthen the company in the long term. We use STEPs to promote employees in a strength-orientated way and create opportunities so that they don't have to move externally. Those who get involved in the talent pool benefit because they can draw on qualified talent again. This results in a transfer of knowledge across business units.
I think the programme is great and have already recommended it to my direct colleagues. It's great for employees because they can develop their strengths and are addressed as part of the process. They don't have to leave the company just because they can't develop in their current area. For me as a senior manager, it's great because I can draw on an internal pool. This shortens the familiarisation period enormously and you benefit from internal knowledge transfer."
