Innovative, successful and very popular with customers: Nahkauf has made a good start to the year. The retailers and sales managers also have a lot planned for the coming months.
At the most recent meeting of the working group, retailers and sales experts discussed how to further strengthen the brand and agreed on the most important actions and campaigns. Sales Manager Florian Sörensen had good news to report to the retailers. The Nahkauf brand is still very popular with customers. This is reflected in the continued positive sales trend as well as the results of customer surveys and mystery shopping, in which the Nahkauf stores between Husum and Oberaudorf "achieved great results".
The highlight of the meeting was the tour with market checks
The majority - over 60 per cent of Nahkauf stores - now have the current corporate design. The rest are to be rebranded by the end of the year. Nationwide, around 450 stores are currently operating under Nahkauf red, 64 of which are located in the sales region of REWE Region Südwest, the organiser of the conference.
The Nahkauf managers have also set themselves ambitious goals in other respects.

Agenda 2022
Following the successful Bee Week 2021, insects are once again taking centre stage this year. Under the motto "We give bees a paradise", Nahkauf is setting up flower beds for the industrious nectar collectors throughout Germany in May and collecting old mobile phones and smartphones for the Nabu insect protection fund.
There is also a "birthday" to celebrate these days. One year ago, the Nahkauf stores introduced Payback. The development shows: Payback has proven itself as a customer loyalty tool, and the revenue generated with it is developing positively at Nahkauf. The proportion of Payback customers is to be further increased.
This year, Nahkauf retailers want to continue their commitment to "Ein Herz für Kinder" (A Heart for Children) organised by Bild hilft e.V.. Many of them are very active and creative when it comes to filling the charity's coffers.
Important local supplier
The importance of Nahkauf for the food supply in rural areas became clear during the market tour. The first stop was the Nahkauf "Tante Emma GüNies" (the name stands for the operators Gerd-Hans Nieth and Özlem Günay), which opened in autumn 2021. The 800 square metre property in Neukirch is the first local supermarket in Germany to be designed as a green building and has closed a gaping supply gap. Johannes Hafner's Nahkauf, which covers almost 700 square metres, is of similar importance. It is the only full-range supermarket on the island of Reichenau on Lake Constance and is correspondingly popular with the islanders. In a comparatively central location in Überlingen, Joachim Nabholz holds his own with his 540 square metre shop. All retailers and their teams are united by their proximity to their customers and the fine-tuning of their product ranges to meet local needs, especially with regional products.
The retailers finally travelled home with many impressions and a number of suggestions for their own businesses.

For more than ten years, two retailers from each REWE sales region and the respective sales manager have met regularly to exchange ideas and coordinate further strategy.
In addition to the conference part, market visits are a focal point. The most recent meeting took place at Lake Constance (photo: Meersburg).
