700 junior staff start their careers

From 5 to 20 October, BILLA welcomes its new trainees throughout Austria. On seven welcome days, young trainees get to know the regional sales team and find out what to expect in the coming years.

With around 1,800 trainees and around 30,000 employees, BILLA is one of the largest employers in Austria. To welcome the new trainees, BILLA is organising seven welcome days in several federal states between 5 and 20 October. The 700 new trainees will get to know their teams during the events. The "Apprentice and junior staff development" team, the regional sales team, the works council and the youth council take time on site to accompany the young talents at the start of their careers. Questions and requests are addressed to ensure that the trainees have a pleasant start at BILLA. At the welcome day, the new trainees were given an insight into the company.

"On the welcome days, we welcome our 700 new recruits to the BILLA family. The apprentices have the opportunity to make their first contacts and get to know their future team in person. As one of Austria's largest employers, we offer our apprentices high-quality training in various specialised areas and a wide range of opportunities for further development," says Harald Mießner, BILLA Management Board member responsible for the sales department.

Correct use of social media

The welcome days in the federal states are all about getting to know the BILLA family. The "Apprentice and junior staff development" team provides insights into the company, the various stages during the apprenticeship and the numerous training and further education opportunities. There will also be plenty of fun and games. In the afternoon, various "challenges" are on the programme for the apprentices to complete. A workshop on social media will focus on the correct use of social media and the opportunities and dangers of the internet. At a photo station, the trainees have the opportunity to take photos and share the resulting footage with the hashtag #nextbillageneration. The best snapshot will be chosen by the "Apprentice and Young Talent Promotion" team.

61 junior employees from Carinthia were welcomed by the BILLA team during the Welcome Day.

Diverse training professions

BILLA and BILLA PLUS offer a diverse and varied range of apprenticeships: training is currently available in ten different professions such as retail sales assistant - specialising in food, delicatessen and also digital sales, office administrator, confectioner, food technician and media specialist. Furthermore, it is even possible to complete a dual apprenticeship as a retail sales assistant / office administrator. As an employer, BILLA also offers attractive benefits such as performance bonuses, tutoring, internships abroad, exciting trainee project weeks and a junior management programme.

And that's what the trainees say:

"I particularly liked the fact that we were able to ask lots of questions and learn new things," says trainee Miriam from Carinthia about her participation in the Welcome Day.

Apprentice Annabelle, also from Carinthia: "I found out about the apprenticeship at BILLA through a friend. I really enjoy my apprenticeship. I'm happy to be here."
