Jacqueline Adams
Jacqueline Adams was almost 50 years old when she began her partial qualification as a trained sales assistant at REWE in May 2023. The registered nurse had already experienced a lot in her professional life - including in retail. Doing another apprenticeship now? Go to school? Study? The Berliner hesitated briefly. Today, she is happy with her decision: "Maybe you try harder, especially because you're no longer 20."
Ali Rezaie
Ali Rezaie came to Germany from Iran more than seven years ago. Then came the separation from his wife and the biggest challenge was how to organise the care of his young son The partial qualification as a sales assistant at REWE gives him the opportunity to manage everyday family life and complete an apprenticeship.
Ines Barkowsky has looked after people with dementia. This work requires great mental stability and is impossible if you are in poor health and a single parent. As part of her partial qualification as a sales assistant at REWE, she has found a shop assistant who allows her to work family-friendly hours.
Dirk Hoffmann, Senior Consultant Talent Acquisition
The shortage of skilled labour is reflected in falling numbers of applicants. At the same time, there are around 1.5 million people who are unemployed and low-skilled. In the spirit of a strong community, we open ourselves up to people who fall through the cracks due to their biography or life circumstances and offer them a qualification programme to (re)enter working life.
Bake-off station
We're all familiar with the tiresome discussion at the breakfast table: one time the bread roll is too soft, the next time it's far too dark. The reason: the dough was baked too short or too long, perhaps not at the right temperature. In short: an unsatisfactory situation, and not just for customers. We had a REWE supermarket show us how it could be done better.
Diversity month, part 2
The team at Udo Ridders' store on Cologne's Eigelstein is as colourful as its customers. A role model for diversity in practice. We wanted to find out what makes working there so special and asked around the team.
Ramadan
Ramadan has begun: Since 10 March and until 9 April, devout Muslims have been fasting between sunrise and sunset. REWE store manager Turgut Akkaya explains what this means for everyday working life and how colleagues and employers support those who are fasting.
Collective bargaining talks
Following the voluntary increase in October 2023, we will voluntarily increase wages and salaries again at the start of the second collective bargaining year.

App for REWE employees
Has the latest wine bill arrived yet? What's new in the REWE world? What does the perfect set-up look like? Questions like these will soon be answered quickly: thanks to the app for all REWE store employees.
"Supermarket of the year"
Hat-trick for red and white: REWE secured the coveted "Supermarket of the Year" industry award in three out of four categories, plus two "Employees of the Year". Two other store teams made it into the top three.
