PENNY International's Wishing Tree campaign was so well received that the employees in Cologne are now extending the donation campaign for senior citizens to the whole year.
Conveyor penny
PENNY makes a donation and customers round up their purchase amount at the checkout - this money can be used to promote and support local associations for children and young people and fulfil many a wish. The application deadline for the upcoming Förderpenny 2024 is 31 January.
DER Travel and Tourism Foundation
At the beginning of August, DER Travel and Tourism called for donations for Rhodes. Over 50,000 euros have now been handed over to support the people affected by the forest fires.
Donation to children's hospice
Together with their customers, the store teams from Central Germany collected almost 760,000 euros over two years for the children's and youth hospice in Tambach-Dietharz, Thuringia. Now the retailers have finally been able to hand over the cheque.
Customer campaign
REWE, nahkauf and customers supported the food banks in Germany with around 487,000 donation bags nationwide. From 10 to 22 October, more than 3,700 REWE and 450 nahkauf stores as well as the REWE online shop called on customers to buy a donation bag for their local food bank.
Doing good and creating opportunities
As part of a team building day, the REWE Group document management team built a wooden house for a homeless person together with the managing directors of "Little Home e.V.". The organisation is one of the four recipients of the REWE employee donation project.
Ukraine transport
Neatly lined up, 20 tonnes of food and hygiene products were ready to be loaded onto two articulated lorries. The destination of the relief supplies: Ukraine. The transport was organised by "Saving an Angel", an aid organisation run by artists.
one_Feature: Schäfer family
It was a year ago in July that the tidal wave devastated large parts of the Ahr valley. The house of Beatrix Schäfer-Hoffmann, an employee at REWE Schäfer in Bad Neuenahr, was located in the small town of Dernau. It was swept away by the flood. one visited her and her husband Wolfgang Hoffmann in their temporary home.
Significantly fewer donations
The food banks in Germany are helping more and more people, while at the same time food donations are declining. REWE is therefore donating gift cards worth half a million euros to the dedicated helpers.
Black Mambas
During the pandemic, the all-female ranger team of the Black Mambas played a doubly important role: they protected the rhinos from poachers and, as the main breadwinners, secured the livelihoods of their families. A representative of the organisation reports.
