ZooRoyal's pet supplies are now also available in stores: together with REWE, the pet retailer is launching a concept test - on around 1,800 square metres directly opposite the REWE Green Building in Norderstedt. The original highlight: a dog washing station with seven washing cycles including a hair dryer.
Everything for animals on around 1,800 square metres: the first stationary ZooRoyal specialist store in Norderstedt
REWE Group subsidiary ZooRoyal's first brick-and-mortar pet store opened on 8 April on Segeberger Chaussee in Norderstedt. "Pet supplies have become increasingly important in recent years. With the pet speciality retailer, which is part of REWE Group, we have the right partner at our side to take a step into the stationary pet speciality trade with this concept test," says Jochen Vogel, Chairman of the Management Board of REWE Region North.
Is he looking forward to the dog washing station with seven washing cycles including hair dryer? More likely the 24-hour automatic feeder....
"The store reflects what the ZooRoyal brand stands for: a modern and competent pet speciality retailer with a wide range of services for all pet lovers. In implementing this concept test, we were able to utilise REWE's experience and expertise in the stationary sector. Together with ZooRoyal's pet expertise, this extraordinary speciality store was created within a very short space of time. I am very pleased that we can now continue the ZooRoyal success story as a bricks-and-mortar speciality store," says Annette Limmer, Managing Director of ZooRoyal Petcare GmbH.
REWE retailer Ivica Pobric is taking over the approximately 1,800 square metre specialist store opposite the REWE Green Building, where the former Sky store was previously operated. Ivica Pobric already runs his own REWE store in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel. "As a long-time REWE retailer, I am looking forward to the challenge of gaining a foothold in the pet speciality retail sector and taking the step into the stationary pet speciality retail sector together with REWE and ZooRoyal," explains Ivica Pobric.
All five departments function independently and as a coherent design concept with a guidance system on the floor: Dogs, cats, birds, rodents and wild animals, aquariums and terrariums and pharmacy
For many years, ZooRoyal's shop-in-shop solutions and listed product ranges have been very well received by customers in REWE stores. The product range and services are customised and further developed to meet customer requirements. In this respect, ZooRoyal and REWE are now taking the next step and testing a stationary variant.
The product range includes pet food and accessories for dogs, cats, small animals, birds and fish. It comprises more than 12,000 items in total, including exclusive brands. In addition to conventional wet and dry food, the pet food range also includes a large BARF range(organicrawmeat) for dogs, a selection of organic and vegetarian products as well as grain-free and age-appropriatefood. A dog snack bar for self-portioning is also part of the range. In addition to freshwater aquariums for sale, pond fish tanks and a plant shop, the aquarist also sells technical equipment and decorative accessories.
There are five departments that function independently and at the same time as a coherent design concept with a guidance system on the floor: Dog, Cat, Bird, Rodent and Wildlife, Aquaristics and Terraristics and Pharmacy. As in the ZooRoyal online shop, each department is assigned its own colour. The different colours are also decisive for customer guidance in the store: from the moment they enter the store, customers are guided by a customer guidance system designed in the department colours. It flows seamlessly from a wall graphic to the floor and leads directly to the respective pet supplies. The coloured stripes resemble an underground map in their graphic language and also facilitate quick orientation in the store.
Original highlights include a dog washing station with seven washing cycles including a hair dryer and a 24-hour automatic feeder for dogs and cats in the outdoor area. In the aquarium section, there is an "instant filling service" for CO2 bottles and a water filling station for osmosis and seawater. An aqua-scaping table makes it possible to put together a customised aquarium.
Touch screens serve as an extension of the online shop. From there, customers can have the items delivered directly to their home. Those who only want to collect their purchase can take advantage of the collection service: order by email or telephone and collect the goods at the agreed time.
