What are AI agents?

Knowledge break with our experts: AI agents are one of the hype topics of the year so far. But what is an AI agent anyway? How can I use these digital helpers? And how do they differ from the familiar AI assistants found in chatbots? Our expert Jörg Hirt, Chief Innovation Manager at REWE digital, explains.

At the heart of AI agents is their ability to perform tasks autonomously while constantly learning and optimising themselves. This makes them powerful tools for increasing efficiency, process optimisation and innovative solutions. Above all, however, AI opens up new perspectives and secures our future viability in an increasingly technologised market.

More than two years have passed since AI finally reached the end user with ChatGPT and one thing is clear: this was not an AI bubble that will quickly burst again.
