REWE is further expanding its online food delivery service and launching “REWE Instant Delivery” in partnership with the three well-known delivery platforms Uber Eats, Wolt and Lieferando. The service will launch in Cologne (Wolt), Frankfurt am Main (Uber Eats) and in Hamburg and Jena (Lieferando). Once an order has been placed via one of the three apps, the products will be delivered to your home, office or even to the park in under an hour.
Alongside REWE shops, the REWE delivery service, the REWE collection service and REWE Drive, customers now have another convenient option for online grocery shopping.

The first partnerships with REWE stores will begin on 15 September 2026. Ordering is simple for customers: in the respective providers’ apps, they select ‘REWE Instant Delivery’, add the desired items to their basket and place their order. Orders are picked at REWE stores, and delivery to customers is then handled via the previously selected platform – within an hour at the latest. The providers’ apps will offer a REWE range of between 5,000 and 9,000 products to choose from, including plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as frozen and convenience products.
Whether it’s a quick meal for lunch, drinks for a spontaneous visit to the neighbours or fresh ingredients for dinner: “Our customers today expect to be able to order groceries as easily and flexibly as suits their everyday lives. With Lieferando, Wolt and Uber Eats, we’re creating additional shopping options right where spontaneous needs arise,” says Clemens Bauer, Director of REWE E-Food. “We know from our tests that fruit and vegetables, as well as dairy and convenience products, are among the most popular categories for spontaneous purchases. And this is precisely where REWE’s strengths lie.”

Furthermore, ‘quick commerce’ – that is, fast deliveries in under an hour – is also expected to be a growth area in the coming years. By 2030, revenue in Germany is expected to rise to just over 1.3 billion euros*. Thanks to its collection service in over 2,200 stores, REWE has a strong foundation for its REWE Sofort-Lieferung partnerships, enabling processes to be adapted and scaled up quickly. At the same time, the collaboration with the three established platforms in Germany underlines the strategic importance of partnerships in quick commerce, through which REWE can reach new customer groups and, in the long term, efficiently expand its offering to further cities and regions. The service will be extended to further major cities in Germany by the end of the year. However, this is not the end of the story; ‘REWE Instant Delivery’ is also planned for small and medium-sized towns.
Through these new collaborations, REWE is strategically developing its e-food division into an ecosystem comprising various services and shopping experiences. The delivery service remains a central component of this – embedded within a range of services tailored to customers’ needs and linking digital and physical shopping environments. “Customers do not always shop via just one channel, but use different channels depending on their personal needs. There are many good examples from other countries, such as the US, France and the UK, which show that we are on the right track with this strategy. In those countries, e-commerce accounts for 10 to 15 per cent of the food market; in Germany, it currently stands at just four per cent,” says Clemens Bauer.
