Following the successful premiere in Cologne, the young merchants organised in the REWEformer Unternehmerkinder Netzwerk (R.U.N) recently met in the North region for an intensive exchange of ideas.
"The exchange with our future retailers was a pleasure. They are our future," said Jochen Vogel, Chairman of the Management of REWE Region North, summarising the positive outcome of the visit by 39 young entrepreneurs, many of whom are striving to become self-employed or have already taken on entrepreneurial responsibility. This was the second study trip to Hamburg and Henstedt-Ulzburg. Last year, 40 participants from the network visited REWE West and the Cologne headquarters.
"With the REWEformer - Being independent with REWE network, we want to promote networking among our junior staff from our own ranks and inspire them to become self-employed at REWE," added Antje Bornschein, GLK officer for retailers in the region, who was delighted: "Two of our participants had even travelled all the way from the Swiss border."
Once again, socialising with each other and with colleagues in the region was at the top of the agenda.
The varied programme provided impetus for lively discussions: a tour of the REWE logistics centre in Henstedt-Ulzburg, a trip to the cult PENNY store on the Reeperbahn and a visit to two REWE stores and a ZooRoyal shop offered a wealth of impressions. We asked some of the participants about it. Here are their opinions:
The REWEformerUnternehmerkindernetwork, R.U.N. for short, was founded three years ago.
In addition to the annual face-to-face meeting, regular digital events and newsletters on current topics provide a glimpse behind the scenes at REWE and enable networking.
After many months of exchanging ideas in virtual space, 40 young salespeople came together in Cologne for the first time last autumn. The meeting in the north was the second.
There are currently around 170 young entrepreneurs in the network.
