Every year, teams from the service counters for cheese and meat compete for one of the coveted trophies in the "Kreativ Award", along with a certificate and prize money for a joint team event. This year there were three awards for REWE stores.
REWE in Ratingen-Lintorf
The Creative Award for cheese counters honours the most imaginative campaigns with cheese from either different countries, regions or types of milk. The REWE store in Ratingen-Lintorf (West region) impressed the jury above all with the way it showcased the regional range of a nearby farm cheese dairy - despite the coronavirus-related obstacles. The team offered its customers an online tasting instead of a traditional tasting. The Lintorf cheese team put the positive response to this and the entire campaign down to their own inventiveness on the one hand and the increased customer interest in regional specialities due to coronavirus on the other.
REWE Hasenstab in Speicher
After the "Meat Star 2020", Sven Nicholson, Head of Service, and his meat counter team from the REWE Hasenstab store in Speicher (West region) have now received another award for their barbecue expertise. The team received the award for the best barbecue counter in 2022 for the week-long "skewer parade", which also included veggie skewers, for their meat rarities and specialities and the 22 per cent increase in sales generated during the campaign period. The jury particularly recognised the commitment of the highly motivated Eifel team to "set highlights" above and beyond the standard.
REWE Centre Egelsbach
The service counter team at the REWE Center Egelsbach (Central Region) won through with its own grilled food, which included marinated classics from the land as well as seafood specialities such as stuffed squid tubes and seafood skewers. The promotion resulted in a 10 per cent increase in sales. The meat counter at the REWE Centre offers a lot of products from its own production, for example the ten home-made types of bratwurst are very popular.

For over twenty years, the trade magazine "Käse-Theke" has presented the industry prize "Kreativ Award" for the most creative counter promotion with cheese. Meanwhile, the sister magazine "Fleisch-Marketing" also honours the best barbecue counter in Germany.
The award ceremony took place in October at the Foodhotel Neuwied.
