At its meeting today (7 December), the Supervisory Board of REWE-ZENTRALFINANZ eG extended Lionel Souque's contract as CEO of the REWE Group by a further five years until the end of 2028. The Frenchman, who was born in Paris in 1971, has been CEO of REWE Group since 1 July 2017.
Erich Stockhausen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of REWE Group, commented on the decision: "I am very pleased that we can extend the very successful cooperation with Lionel Souque for another five years. As CEO, he has significantly strengthened and further expanded the core business in recent years, as well as driving forward the digital transformation of the entire Group and implementing the strategic expansion with the integration of Lekkerland. He has also steered the company safely and extremely stably through the pandemic and the still tangible economic consequences of the war in Ukraine. With his expertise, experience and management style, Lionel Souque enjoys the full confidence of both the merchants represented by the Supervisory Board and the employee representatives of REWE Group."
"I am very grateful for the great trust placed in me with the extension of my contract. There are undoubtedly major challenges ahead of us. Nevertheless, I am convinced that we will not only master them as a cooperative company, but that we will continue on our strategic course unchanged. Throughout its history, REWE Group has always demonstrated the innovative potential of the company and its 380,000 committed employees. I am very pleased to be able to continue shaping this path together with great colleagues as a team," said Lionel Souque on the decision of REWE Group's highest committee.
