Telerik Schischmanow and Christoph Eltze will join the Management Board of REWE Group on 1 July. In a second step, Dr Daniela Büchel, Hans-Jürgen Moog and Peter Maly will complete the seven-member Management Board on 1 January 2023.
Telerik Shishmanov succeeds Dr Christian Mielsch as CFO, who is leaving the position on 30 June this year. With the early appointment in September 2021, REWE Group ensured continuity in the central department of the CFO. "As a retailer, we now face new challenges every day. The focus is always on further strengthening our profitability in the medium and long term. We must remain vigilant so that we can continue to react quickly to new operational and financial challenges. Our motto remains: cash is king," says Telerik Shishmanov.

Continuity paired with setting the strategic course for the future is also the overall goal behind the expansion of the REWE Group Management Board: with Christoph Eltze, one Management Board member will be responsible for the topics of digitalisation and technology with a focus on customers. "Retailers, both online and brick-and-mortar, are increasingly becoming technology-driven companies. That's why investing in future-proof technology - always with the customer in mind - will be crucial to our competitiveness," Christoph Eltze is convinced.

Lionel Souque, Jan Kunath and Peter Maly will be responsible for the strategic business units in future. As early as 1 July, Jan Kunath will take over Toom Baumarkt DIY store in addition to the international business units BILLA, BIPA, ADEG, IKI and PENNY International. Jan Kunath comments: "The international retail business and Toom Baumarkt DIY store will remain key pillars for the successful further development of REWE Group."
From January 2023, REWE will also be represented on the REWE Group Management Board by Peter Maly. From then on, Dr Daniela Büchel and Hans Jürgen Moog will also be responsible for the strategically important topics of HR, Sustainability and Merchandise on the Group Management Board.
PENNY Germany, together with Lekkerland, will remain under the responsibility of Lionel Souque. The unit will continue to be managed by the responsible Divisional Director - Stefan Magel until 30 September, when Dr Stefan Görgens will take over the function.
Travel and Tourism will also become the responsibility of the Chairman of the Management Board with the departure of Sören Hartmann at the end of the year.
The expansion of the Management Board is aimed at optimising the development and advancement of strategic core areas on the one hand and growth areas on the other. This will be based on the proven structures, committees and organisational units.
"Our goal is to make REWE Group even more competitive, dynamic and efficient," says Lionel Souque. "The expansion of the Management Board is a step with which we are deepening and ensuring our continued corporate success."
