The REWE Group supported the 28th edition of the Generali Cologne Marathon on 4 October 2026. At the REWE Group refreshment village and at the REWE refreshment points along the route, more than 40,000 participants were treated to a wide range of fresh food.

REWE Group employees who took part in the Generali Cologne Marathon had prepared specifically for their big day using the company’s own training programme. The mas Institute in Cologne supported them in this. The runners underwent individual performance assessments, such as field fitness tests, and were provided with tailored training plans. Depending on their fitness levels, they trained in small, guided running groups. In addition, running events offered the opportunity to pick up tips and advice from experienced long-distance runners. In total, over 690 REWE Group runners were registered for the marathon, half-marathon and relay. For every kilometre run in the race, the REWE Group donates one euro to HistiozytoseHilfe e.V. This year, the total amount raised was around 13,755 euros.
As in previous years, the surplus food from the running event was donated to the Kölner Tafel.

The REWE delivery service supported the event with seven vehicles along the route and transported the marathon runners’ own food and drink on the day of the event.
The ‘PWR Mile’ at Hansaring/Ritterstraße, featuring a female DJ and an LED wall, provided extra motivation over the final kilometres. It was dedicated to REWE’s new performance brand, PWR, and brought the slogan ‘REWE brings PWR to the course’ right into the heart of the marathon action.
The day before the Generali Cologne Marathon, the REWE Group supported the PUMA Shake Out Run at the Bastei on the banks of the Rhine with a wide range of products from its own-brand range, REWE Bio.
