This year, REWE Group once again supported the 27th Generali Cologne Marathon on 5 October 2025. With over 500 runners, REWE Group provided the largest team of runners. REWE Group donated one euro to HistiozytoseHilfe e.V. for every kilometre run
Around 30,000 participants were able to enjoy a wide range of fresh food in the REWE Group catering village and at 11 REWE catering points along the route. On the last, particularly challenging kilometres, the "REWE Group Hammer Mile with REWE and toom Baumarkt DIY store" at Hansaring / Ritterstraße once again provided the runners with an extra dose of motivation.
REWE Group employees who took part in the Generali Cologne Marathon were able to prepare specifically for their big day with the company's own training programme. Supported by the mas Institute from Cologne, they received individualised performance diagnostics such as field level tests and training plans tailored to their needs. Depending on their fitness level, they trained in small, guided running groups. The marathon ambassador meeting with German marathon record holder Samuel Fitwi offered the running group participants an inspiring opportunity to receive valuable first-hand tips and motivational impulses for their own running training. The training programme was organised by CoE Health Management with the aim of preparing employees for the various marathon disciplines in a holistic and healthy way and promoting their enthusiasm for exercise in the long term.

Around 30,000 participants were supplied with fresh food in the REWE Group catering village and at the 11 REWE catering points along the route. Together with sports-enthusiastic partners, REWE Group provided fruit, vegetables, muesli bars, nuts and much more. The REWE delivery service supported the logistics with vehicles and transported the marathon runners' own food.
