Contract extension
REWE and Handball-Bundesliga GmbH remain partners

REWE and Handball-Bundesliga GmbH have extended their partnership for another three years - until 2024. The REWE Final4 for the DHB Cup continues to take centre stage. The premium German handball event has been closely linked to REWE since 2015 through the naming rights.

To extend the contract, Handball-Bundesliga GmbH and REWE have put together a comprehensive rights package that, in addition to the naming rights to the REWE Final4, includes numerous other sponsorship measures at all HBL events and throughout the seasons. Digital activation will become much more important in the coming years, for example through campaigns on HBL GmbH's social media platforms. Other communication measures will also continue to be part of the cooperation. In addition to the expanded digital activation, REWE will also maintain a presence in handball with traditional advertising measures, for example with TV-relevant advertising space on LED boards, on the playing surface and on interview back walls.

The REWE Final4 for the DHB Cup, in which the best four teams in the cup competition compete against each other to win the cup on a weekend, is also moving much closer to REWE Group's headquarters in Cologne: the REWE Final4 will be held in Cologne's LANXESS Arena for at least five years from 2023.

HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann on the extension of REWE's commitment: "We are very pleased that our partnership with REWE is continuing. The extension of our trusting and successful partnership is a strong signal for us, our clubs and the fans during the coronavirus crisis. With the renewed extension of the commitment, REWE is creating the basis for us to be able to position the REWE Final4 as a premium sporting event with national and international appeal on a stable economic basis in the coming years. We are convinced that the REWE Final4 will continue to gain in sporting and social significance in Cologne by continuing our close partnership."

"As a Cologne-based company, we are delighted that we have been able to successfully continue our partnership with Handball-Bundesliga GmbH since 2015 and bring the REWE Final4 for the DHB Cup to the LANXESS Arena in Cologne from 2023. Handball is a fast and dynamic team sport that fits in very well with REWE's philosophy. With this long-term commitment, we are continuously expanding our presence in German handball and are proud to be able to continue to support the successful development of handball in Germany over the next three years," says Peter Maly, Divisional Director REWE Group, on the extension of the commitment.

The DHB Cup final has been organised as a Final4 tournament since 1993. After the first edition in Frankfurt am Main, it was moved to Hamburg in 1994, and since then Handball-Bundesliga GmbH has organised the final weekend for the DHB Cup in the Hanseatic metropolis. During this time, HBL GmbH has developed the REWE Final4 into a top national and international handball event. On 23/24 April this year, the REWE Final4 will bid farewell to Hamburg after 29 successful years. From next year, the REWE Final4 will have a new venue in Cologne's LANXESS Arena for at least five years.

Hello, can we get (discounted) tickets? Is there a ticket pool? Will there be a competition?
