Equal opportunities for all and a non-discriminatory workplace, regardless of origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion or disability: that is our goal, which we strive for every day. We focus on five dimensions of diversity.
Within REWE Group, almost two thirds of employees are female, but women are still underrepresented in management positions. To change this, we have launched a number of projects and initiatives. These include the "Women's Drive" programme, which empowers women with initial management experience, and the "f.ernetzt" network, in which almost 1,000 female employees and senior managers regularly exchange ideas. REWE Group is also a partner of the Cologne alliance "With Women in Leadership". These measures support our endeavours to promote gender equality in management positions. In order to better reconcile work and family life, we offer top positions on a part-time and job-sharing basis. Uniquely, we have also been offering part-time store management for around five years - making us the only retailer to do so.

People from around 160 nations work for REWE Group - a diversity from which we benefit enormously and which defines us. It is therefore clear that we do not tolerate discrimination based on different religions, language, cultural and/or social backgrounds. We are committed to this with targeted initiatives - such as the Southern Region's KIMAT integration initiative, which helps people with a history of migration to gain a foothold in the labour market. The award-winning project builds bridges between background and future, especially for refugees. Many of them are now trainees at REWE. Another programme in the southern region was awarded the German Skilled Labour Prize 2025 by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs: REWEkombi. Employees without training can earn their retail qualification while working part-time or full-time at REWE. We are also socially committed and support the food banks with donations in kind and money as well as with the Förderpenny programme for disadvantaged children and young people. Since 2015, PENNY and its customers have donated over 6 million euros to 2,380 associations and organisations throughout Germany that support children and young people in a wide variety of areas.

REWE Group sees itself as a tolerant and modern employer. For us, this naturally includes welcoming all people regardless of their sexual orientation and treating them without prejudice. Nobody should have to hide their sexuality and/or sexual identity for fear of bullying, discrimination or other prejudices. Our LGBTQIA+ network DITO supports everyone in feeling comfortable at REWE Group. in 2016, we launched an initiative to promote tolerance and diversity in order to create an unprejudiced environment for employees and customers. We affixed rainbow stickers to the entrance doors of over 3,300 REWE stores. This symbolism was also extended to toom Baumarkt DIY stores, PENNY stores and DER travel agencies. Every year, 2,500 rainbow flags are hung outside the stores to show full solidarity on the occasion of Pride Month. in 2025, REWE Group, together with REWE and PENNY, is one of the main sponsors of Cologne Pride for the third year in a row. DITO also actively participates in demonstrations in other cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt and Leipzig. PENNY Italy was the official partner of Milan Pride for the first time in 2024, while BIPA is sponsoring Vienna Pride this year. REWE Group was also honoured with the Pride Champion employer seal in gold for the third time in a row. The award recognises REWE Group's open and inclusive corporate culture.

We are convinced that the future of work belongs to young and old.that's why we focus on a balanced mix of generations and create space and (working) conditions as well as support and counselling services for all phases of life. With specialist presentations for the 50+ target group, care leave or topic-specific coaching - for example, late career or transition into retirement. Guidelines and checklists for senior managers and employees are also planned.

More than 10 million people in Germany have a disability. We are committed to ensuring that all employees have the same opportunities. With numerous projects and collaborations, for example with Aktion Mensch or Lebenshilfe, we are setting up barrier-free workplaces - not only in administration, but also in the store, for example with checkout workstations for wheelchair users. Our representatives for severely disabled employees and inclusion officers provide support with applications to the pension office and with reintegration after long periods of illness.we are also committed to inclusion beyond the boundaries of the company: The REWE project "Stück zum Glück" has the mission of creating playgrounds where children with and without disabilities can play together. In September 2024, Aktion Mensch and the German Disabled Sports Association launched a joint inclusion mobile that stops in front of REWE stores and brings the diversity of inclusive sport to life.
