DER Travel and Tourism is continuing its investment in the growing hotel sector and further strengthening its commitment to the market for earthbound holidays. The hotel company of the DER Travel and Tourism Group, DER Travel and Tourism Hotels & Resorts GmbH (Cologne), has acquired a majority stake in DR Hospitality GmbH & Co KG, based in Rostock.
DR Hospitality GmbH & Co KG, which was founded in 2021 as an equal joint venture with Deutsche Seereederei (DSR), will thus become part of DER Travel and Tourism Group. This underlines DER Travel and Tourism Group's strong position and ambition in the German-speaking holiday hotel industry and the market for earthbound travel. "We are convinced that holiday destinations that can be reached by train and car will become increasingly relevant in the future," emphasises Dr Ingo Burmester, CEO Central Europe DER Travel and Tourism Group.
„With this step, we are now laying the foundations for further growth. Together with Deutsche Seereederei, we want to make even greater use of opportunities that arise in the market in future.“Dr Ingo Burmester, CEO Central Europe DER Travel and Tourism Group
As a medium-sized company, the DSR Group and its strong partner DER Travel and Tourism see great opportunities in the earthbound travel market. Horst Rahe, Managing Partner of DSR, emphasises: "We are also convinced that the market for ground-based travel will continue to grow and that this partnership will secure further first-class locations."
With DSR Hotel Holding, DR Hospitality is successfully active as a hotel management company in Germany, Austria - and since 2023 also in Italy - and currently employs over 1,800 employees. The company operates and markets a high-quality hotel portfolio that includes growth-oriented hotel and resort brands as well as traditional individual hotels. This currently includes 22 hotels and resorts under the A-ROSA, aja, HENRI HOTELS, Hotel Louis C. Jacob, MIRA Hotels and Hotel Neptun.

With the acquisition of the majority stake, DER Travel and Tourism is consistently pursuing its strategy of sustainable growth, individuality and quality. "An important pillar of our hotel strategy is the focus on quality. By integrating DSR Hotel Holding even more closely into our hotel division, we are able to standardise our quality standards across the entire portfolio and roll out innovations across the board. It also brings the hotels and brands of DSR Hotel Holding even closer to our large distribution network," says Burmester.
The hotel business is one of the Group's strategic growth areas and has been bundled in the DER Travel and Tourism Group Hotel Division since 2021. The portfolio of the DER Travel and Tourism Hotel Division currently comprises 10 brands and over 100 hotels in 14 countries worldwide.
