REWE makes room
Aktion Mensch logo on the 1 FC Köln jersey

At the last home match of FC Köln in the 2023/2024 Bundesliga season on 11 May, REWE cleared the jersey for Aktion Mensch. As the main sponsor, we have thus sent a clear signal in favour of social commitment and inclusion - and not just in sport.

The cooperation between REWE and Aktion Mensch, the largest private support organisation in the social sector in Germany, is intended to contribute to the active inclusion of people with disabilities in society. The logo on the players' jerseys is the most prominent place for this cooperation, but REWE is also making the LED perimeter boards in Cologne's RheinEnergieSTADION available for this purpose.

"REWE Group stands for equal opportunities, both in the workplace and on the sports field. We are proud to have been a partner of Aktion Mensch for nine years. With this campaign, we want to support and draw attention to the important social work of Aktion Mensch for people with disabilities as well as children and young people. We are happy to send a clear signal in favour of inclusion and the goals of Aktion Mensch with the jersey campaign and the communication via our LED perimeter boards," says Lionel Souque, CEO of the REWE Group and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of 1. FC Köln.

There will be another eye-catching campaign in the stadium on the subject of inclusion: children with and without disabilities will run into the centre circle together with the FC players before kick-off. The run-in children are members of the inclusive sports clubs Hertha Bonn e.V., Team Bananenflanke Bonn e.V. and RBC Köln 99ers e.V. The clubs are all supported by Aktion Mensch. In addition, tickets were up for grabs in the run-up to the last home match day so that people with and without disabilities could keep their fingers crossed together live in the stadium.

REWE and Aktion Mensch have been cooperating for nine years. Under the motto "Sport unites", the two partners will jointly support amateur sport for people with and without disabilities with various other projects. The first campaign will take place on 25 May 2024 at the Geißbockheim grounds: E- and D-youth teams are then invited to an inclusion tournament with a joint award ceremony.
