REWE Group - a living cooperative
At the centre of life, close to people: In our film series, we present impressive REWE Group retailers - strong personalities who have led their stores to success with an individual signature and a common sales concept. Their stories are as diverse as they are - and yet they are united by a common foundation of values that is deeply rooted in REWE Group's co-operative tradition. Today's portrait: young entrepreneur Fritz Starke.
Ways into the co-operative
Konstantin Tönnies is not someone who simply takes things over. Neither familiar expectations nor standardised processes. He wants to understand, improve and create. He has already done this in his photography work - and today in the fruit and vegetable department or in product range planning. He and REWE merchant Florian Potrykus share a desire to develop the retail sector further - without losing sight of people.
Alexandra Richber
"You did your A-levels and you're learning to be a shop assistant?" Alexandra Richber had to listen to this question, an expression of incredulous amazement, several times. But she was not deterred. Today, she runs two REWE stores as a self-employed saleswoman.
REWEformer entrepreneurial children
Two years ago, the sons and daughters of our retailers founded the REWEformer Entrepreneurial Children's Network, R.U.N. for short, under the direction of the Communication Retailers division.
Young entrepreneur of the year
Another success for Fritz Starke: after winning the "Goldener Zuckerhut" foundation's sponsorship award, the 27-year-old has now been honoured with the "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" award. In the final of the industry competition, he came out on top against his competitor from Edeka.
Independence
What could the REWE supermarket look like in 2030? Eleven candidates for self-employment with REWE asked themselves this question at a first network meeting in Cologne. They found it valuable to exchange ideas with each other, with experienced self-employed people and managers from the Central locations.
Katrin Feiertag/Kathrin Bräuer
One from the deep West, the other from East Germany, one the scion of a merchant's family, the other a latecomer. But the two REWE shop assistants Katrin Feiertag and Kathrin Bräuer have much more in common than their first names.
