Conscious sizzling is booming
The barbecue season has begun and clearly shows that the desire to sizzle is unbroken. As soon as the thermometer rises, orders placed with the REWE delivery service also skyrocket, by around 20 per cent on average. Trends can be identified from the orders: More and more people are focussing on conscious nutrition. Organic meat, grilled cheese and plant-based alternatives are at the top of the shopping list.
Sustainability, regional, plant-based
With a new organic oat yoghurt, Ja! Natürlich is launching the first purely plant-based oat yoghurt on the market that is completely free from exotic vegetable oils and contains just a few ingredients. REWE and PENNY are also focusing on the shortest possible delivery routes and a short list of ingredients for their plant-based yoghurt alternatives.
Green city plant in the Berlin neighbourhood
The "REWE voll pflanzlich" store on Warschauer Brücke in the Friedrichshain district offers more than 2,700 vegan products. After more than 3,800 stores offering everything from organic vegetables to cheese and meat, this is REWE's first vegan store. Experience the new store here in our film.
From now on, vegan products will also be available at the service counters in around 50 selected REWE stores nationwide. With this new service, REWE is once again underpinning its strategic claim to consistently support vegan nutrition and offer consumers the corresponding product ranges.
Growth potential
REWE is a pioneer when it comes to vegan and vegetarian products. Project manager Alexander Rußler explains the strategy for further expanding the product range in 2022.
