REWE has opened Europe's largest computer vision-supported store on an area of over 1,200 square metres. The centrepiece: hybrid shopping with cashless payment options.
Hybrid shopping at REWE
At the new Pick&Go test store at Düsseldorf's Wehrhahn railway station, customers can choose between four ways to pay for their purchases for the first time in Europe.
On the road to success
In the coming months, three more stores will launch autonomous check-out facilities. The REWE innovation project is also being celebrated at an international level: This year's "Future of European Commerce Award" goes to REWE Pick&Go in the "Digitalisation" category.
"There and away" in Munich
After two hybrid test stores in Cologne and Berlin, REWE Pick&Go reaches the next milestone: the first fully autonomous REWE store opens in Munich city centre. Munich's first "Pick&Go" customer was Bavarian State Minister Hubert Aiwanger.
"REWE Pick&Go"
The hybrid shopping concept "REWE Pick&Go" is now also being launched in the capital. From now on, customers at the REWE store in Prenzlauer Berg can pay for their purchases in the traditional way at the checkout or innovatively without a checkout process using "Pick&Go". REWE is thus further expanding its pioneering role in the German food retail sector. Federal Minister Dr Volker Wissing also visited the opening of the concept in Berlin.
